Nightcore is basically higher pitch with sped up version of the original???

Please educate me what's special about "nightcore" version of songs.

Nope, that's about it. There's nothing special, it's the just the original song being sung by chipmunks.

its a cringeworthy fake "genre" made by kids with no musical composition or production skills at all.

its just random songs copied into audacity, sped up, pitch shifted and uploaded to youtube with a stock anime picture from google images.

I don't know why some people dare say they like such crap.

Nightcore isn't a genre of music I would consider to be synonymous with cute.

@OP: You've pretty much said the definition of Nightcore -- at least in layman terms.

The hilarious thing about people accusing Nightcore of taking no effort to make is that the original songs are almost always auto-tuned up the wazoo.

People just like it that way. (Including me.) Deal with it.
OH, and some people don't like certain songs being sung by the original voice and want to know if it'd sound better different. Some also want to listen to it sung by a male instead of a female or a female instead of a male.
