Xbox disc reader on PC?
is it possible to install an xbox one disc reader onto your pc AND play it? my pc is capable of running taxing games (gtx 1050 ti + ryzen 1200), and since consoles technically do use slightly modified versions of pc apu's and other hardware, is it possible to actually run an xbox one disc with a disc reader installed on your pc?

Is this actually a question? Tell me this is a joke...
No, its all in the software. but i remember the original Xbox had a nominal PC-DVD drive witch made repairs very easy

if it's software that's the problem, then it's bypassable, right?

No no no. The Xbox is a very specific arrangement of hardware and software which the games were made to run on.
Wait for the April Windows 10 update. It seems they may be allowing native play on Windows of Xbox One discs.

huh
TL:DR Sony, Microsoft Ect. all use proprietary software and Discs so you cant swap the disk drive, like mentioned above windows 10 playing xbox games, its all in the software.
.... while I have looked into this for xbox/360 disks, I have no Idea for xbox one games.

The first two need drives with specialty software burned into them.

I would assume its the same for xbox one games.

As for playing it, xbox one games and its ancestors are compiled for their respective systems, and do not play natively on the pc, and disscusion on how to play them on the pc is a topic against the rules (console emulation)

Not ATM, wait a few years for an *emulator. Also be sure you have a Blu Ray drive instead of a normal DVD drive.

*A lot of people don't like discussing emulators on Steam due to how easy it is to use them for illegal things, but using them to play games you have on disc is 100% legal.
Won't work unless you have a Devkit (probably)...

Not really, it requires emulation and usually emulating software is far more resource intensive and glitchy. Would easily be 5-10 years minimum before it was even feasible with any type of accuracy or decent performance.

Are we talking about X360 DVD HD reader module that was commercially failure?

Nope, it's not possible. You need an Xbox One to play Xbox One discs.
Next windows update may allow for Xbox disks to run on pc

This was discovered by some testers playing a special version of (well I forgot the name) on pc, they soon found that the game was running on the Xbox format after a bit of digging
Everyone on here was talking about after a windows 10 update this might be possible, I’m in windows 11 now. Would it work?
