The U.K is very depressing
I have lived here for most of my life, and i know in parts it is beautiful, but life in the U.K. Seems so depressing, especially at the moment

Life in the UK is luxury and something that the vast majority of the worlds population, would sever their left pinkie to get.
Think about that the next time you drink your clean water from the tap.

I went to Manchester once and it was absolutely miserable

A good point for all of us to remember but whenever I hear it, I think of the psychiatrist in The Sopranos when she says something like "Is it so wrong that after the desperate struggle for food & water is over, we turn our attention to other kinds of suffering and try to solve them?"

Can't be worse than living Turkey where Somalia level poverty started. I hate working all day only for two 33cl bottles of beer.

I somehow associate the 70s with Britain. Pretty depressing.

Well obviously.. depending on mindset, you will see some people look for misery and negativity, no matter their status and security.
I don´t think it brings anything, it does not solve the main issue, leaving it pointless to seek.

Ugh... I wouldn't want to live there tbh... Not anymore. Seems kinda like the place is... too dull and too calm.

London is a failed society, I lived there for 25 years and it always felt like most people would emigrate and leave if they could. Best place I visited was the Scottish highlands, climbing mount Ben nevis. A magical and cold land.

We might of bumped into each other at some point (you never know). Anyway Lochlann, I totally agree with you here, manchester is miserable.

But head north out into the countryside into lancashire and into the ribble valley and things start to get really beautiful. Old english villages, cottage houses, lush green countryside, nice people and the forest of bowland is beautiful.

This sounds like a grass is greener thread. Mostly the problem is the person not the place.

The complexity of modern life is often perplexing and scary for many. This can lead to despair or depression. i know that the picturesque greenery of the countryside and the imaginary of a more simpler time can serve as psychic balm, but the truth is, nostalgic yearning for a past that never was is more problematic. It can lead to delusions of past grandeur that can cloud your mind from dealing with the uniqueness of modernity.

Chin up. There is joy in the interstitial.
