Japanese games > Western games tbh
Better tone: Everything in Western games is gloom n doom. Japanese games have a variety of tones.

Color: Everything in Western games is gray and brown.

Music: Japanese games actually have music with melodies. Western games have crappy film score wannabe tracks, or just silence. Maybe a main theme if you're lucky.

Contol: In Western games, your dude just abruptly stops when the hill becomes too steep. As one example.

Stage Design: In Western games, they just make a (might as well be) procedurally generated world and vomit bad guys everywhere or else literally just make them show up randomly.

Depth, not just breadth: Oh look Elder Fallout Theft Creed 28 has an overworld that's TWO HUNDRED MILLION TIMES THE SIZE OF THE OBSERVABLE UNIVERSE and you can even go in one of the buildings!

Actual genres: Western games have strategy, ARPG and sim. Japanese games have strategy, ARPG, not-A RPG, platformer, (not-sim) racer, action-adventure, fighter, beatemup, minigame collection/party game, fun quirky titles, and oh yeah A WHOLE BROAD CATEGORY THAT TRANSCENDS GENRE CALLED 2D.

Actual art styles: Western games just try and fail to look photorealistic

Actual game design: Actually designed as a game and not a simulator of boring-ass reality. Waa waa turn based combat isn't realist--WGAF REALITY IS LAME

Still asleep: Or whatever the opposite of woke is

Fun: Real life sucks, so fun is by definition not immersive, so Western games would never dare attempt it.

Creative: There was a Kirby game where you literally play as yarn, lol. In every Western game you're a space marine with stubble hair or literally Gandalf without a robe. Or else they just don't even bother designing a character and give you a mandatory character creator so you can make something invariably horrifyingly hideous instead.

And this is the part where I put my fingers in my ears and go "la la la can't hear you"

Tbf Dark souls games have some decent tracks but they end before it gets real good, look at Elden Ring 's Promised consort boss track for instance. Bloodborne was peak souls boss music anyways.
Bloodborne has always been the only soulslike that looked worth playing. The only game that isn't dropping with "generic" in terms of visual style, and maybe music if you are correct.
Bloodborne is super intriguing but i never actually played it the only exposition i had from it was the music and some boss fights but at worse it's a decent horror game. Game is pretty unique all things considered so it's safe to assume it's probably worth playing especially considering this game was one of the main selling points to get a PS4.

Most of the Square Enix games I've played have had depressing or bittersweet endings.
Secret of Mana, FFX and the sequel, maybe ( haven't played) FFXIII, FFVI and perhaps Chrono Trigger (maybe i'm wrong never played it) had pretty depressing endings i think so that's understandable.
Kingdom Hearts Union x was so depressing I still cry over it sometimes.
The happiest ending I've seen in a Square Enix game was Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and its remaster.
personally I don't care which country a game come from very much , if it's fun then it"s fun regardless that it's Final Fantasy , Satisfactory ,Cult of the lamb or a wolfenstein game.

Oh yeah i did hear that Union X was a pretty special game to many peoples, but it's a mobile game so i never really got around it because i didn't knew it existed. Crazy considering all the lore dump this game has. Crystal Chronicles is still to this day one of my fav Gamecube game.

I mean yeah if I already owned a PS4 I would have picked it up, but I don't and I'm not going to buy a console for one game so the most I can hope for is that people get it working on emulation
Japanese games visuals styles tend to age better since it's more about style and aesthetic.

Cool. Sounds subjective af

Then we have Western Publishers trying to Make Japanese Games main stream (Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom.) and Japanese Publishers trying to make Western Games main stream. (Something from Nintendo.) Never the same imho.

The fact that Western society welcomes all, and shares it's culture means it seems is a one way street for growth in the home and as a parent this is disturbing because i want my children to be able to learn cultures that don't restrict learning about them.

Resident Evil franchise
Metroidvanias
Zelda games

This has literally always been the case. The arcade days were primarily Japanese. So were the early console days.
Westerners are not only less experienced, but worse at art in general.

Some Japanese games are great. Some western games are great. A lot of Japanese games are horrible shovelware and a lot of western games are horrible shovelware.

Simple as that.

Strongly disagree.

Most Japanese games are trash and childish.

I'm trying to think of good JP games, and they're mostly VN's like Higurashi.
JP has a problem with having really generic gameplay:

I see highly rated JP game online, then check people's streams playing those games;
Monster Hunter, Persona, Armored Core, Dark souls, Resident Evil, Yakuza, Metal gear, Nintendo stuff, Fighting games, etc.

And the stories can be good, it's just that the gameplay is so mediocre.

Best games I've played on steam recently
DRG - EU
Darktide - EU
Mechabaellum - EU
Project Moon games - KR
Monster Hunter is good
Persona is fine but I don't think does anything better than Western games.
Armored Core seems a bit overhyped expectations on launch.
Metal Gear is great for story.

Rogue Trader is really great IMO too.
