Spotify Ads
Spotify ads are the most obnoxious advertisements on the planet even just for their audio, with those annoying cliche young trend-gulpers' voices and the music chosen by 40+ year old executives. Then the images should you look at them for more than a second: completely devoid of any substance, all bright contrasting colours and meaningless subjects - my most hated being the pastel-coloured fur clad trio (at least in Australia, I don't know if the ads are region specific)
I understand these ads are supposed to be irritating (I think that's what they're going for), to encourage the user to purchase their Premium service, but I feel like they went overboard.

To clarify, I am speaking of the content of the advertisements, not their existence in the first place.

I know. I subscribe to premium, just to get rid of them... can't stand ads!.

My only gripe with their ads is how damn loud they are. I listen to music at a fairly high volume, and the ads are twice as loud as the actual music.

When they really make me tear my hair out is when they appear between songs split into parts, of which I have many.
At least on the desktop version, you can skip them after 5 or so seconds (except I've set a touchpad swipe gesture to skip tracks on my laptop, which somehow bypasses the 5 second delay on ads - but, shh, don't tell anyone).

The one that makes me cringe is the Skip, skip, skip, oh I likes that.

It's not like Spotify is working for free. They are doing this as a legal business, this isn't a pirating program.

Either

a) keep using Spotify Free

listen to advertisements and support the artists

or

b) pay for Spotify Premium

which is a miniscule amount of money to pay for all your songs, ad-free and available offline.

or

c) buy your songs

which will cost much much more than paying for Spotify Premium but will support your artists even further

or

d) pirate your songs

which will cost your artist hundreds of dollars and will not support the artist and might leave the artist bankrupt.

Pick your choice, poison or antidote?

I honestly don't get why people are complaining, it's literally free and supports the artist at the same time.

When the service is free, you are the product, not the consumer.

At work last year they used that, lol. I really didn't mind the ads all that much. It was always the one with the girl and guy. They got prenium and then the breaks from the music now and then were gone.

I missed them a bit, some of the music was so loud or harsh, breaks were nice. Still absolutely fun working with people and experiencing thier music tastes. The best songs I'd look up from remembering the lyrics and snag.

So if I pirate songs that I have no intention of listening to, never mind buying, I can cause an artist I don't like to go bankrupt? :gargoyle:
2/10 low tier effort, must Try harder.

Not trolling mate. Just drawing attention to a problem with the logic of that particular point.

I don't pirate music, and I don't support the piracy of music, but if somebody pirates music they have no intention of buying (and providing they don't share it with anyone) it's not actually going to cost the artist a penny.

Also, even if it did cost an artist, "hundreds of dollars," (it won't) how is that even a meaningful amount of money to someone like Taylor Swift or Kanye West? They can toss a thousand times that through the window and not miss it at all.
😂😂😂

Just mute the audio when an ad plays. Problem solved.:hcs_nora:

It’s one of the reasons I got premium. The other reason being I can listen to music offline.

spotify ads should be considered a form of assault

They had (or still have) a deal on a Spotify and Hulu bundle thats pretty reasonable. I listen to Spotify at work all day, 8 hours a day, so for me, premium will always be worth while. Adding on Hulu for a couple bucks is a nice bonus

Hah at least you don't have constant casino ads like we do in sweden. And god they are terrible.
