It's a gacha game so, yes. You can get some stuff for free but general idea is to spend money to "pull out" constantly increasing roster of characters with random chances. Definitely not recommending it

Really? I've just been using the main protagonist the entire time, only rarely switching to the free characters the game gives you when she't not enough to solve a puzzle.
