Really hard to do right w/o a deep fryer.

Agree on McDonalds. I go there sometime just for the fries and for no other reason.

Some McDonalds are a bit heavier with the salt than others. The one I go to does it just right.

If I'm getting take out - then A&W onion rings wins - they are the best!! If I'm doing it at home in an air fryer - the sweet potato fries might win... Tater tots win in either convection oven or air fryer...

Shred using cheese grater
Press into barrel shape or use a mold
Deep fry or air fry

LOL - Most people buy them frozen - and cook either in the oven (convection is awesome) or air fryer...
