Asbestos has been used for 4,500 years. Was used in the industrial era since 1850.

It still has tons of uses. You just have to be careful it doesn't particulate where it can be inhaled.

While on my rabbit hole confirming dates and whatnot, actually found mention that asbestos can probably be used for carbon sequestration, an important project to reverse climate change.

Going to go read up on that now...

(MIT article from 2020 proposing using mine tailings to accelerate the slow carbon cycle, where carbon is locked into minerals. Turns out asbestos mine tailings may work the best. Pretty cool... or, at least, non-flammable.)
