Anime is boring.

I used to be so into anime in highschool. So much so I had an anime list on myanimelist.com. As well as cosplayed kaneki from Tokyo ghoul and I was really into drawing (though i only knew the very basic level.)

Nowadays, I don't even watch anime anymore. Last anime I watched was komi cant communicate season 1 and I am not going to bother watching the second season. Which is interesting because I used to watch a lot of slice of life anime.

I still, however, like anime art but it's not something I actively search for. At least not all the time.

For anyone that still watches anime, read manga, or collect merchandise, salute to you because I don't know how you guys are still interested in it.

EDIT, to be fair, I also got over the "super hero" boom. All the movies and shows nowadays are just ♥♥♥♥. The americans are really great at driving their popular established franchises into the ground.

Anime gets pretty old once your past high school/college and are oh so over stories about teenagers and tropes like otaku with a harem and isekai

When I see an anime where teens start running in the sky or jumping around in the sky, I roll my eyes and go "another one" or when a boring no personality main character that has girls crazy about him its another eye roll.

You can only see so many dragon ball/naruto clones, or tenchi muyo clones.

So, so, so tired of animes where characters have super powers.

That's pretty much how I felt with my hero academia when I saw clips of it on youtube.
The only unique anime I watched that didn't follow any kind of trope or at the very least that was different was Monster. Which is pretty sad that you don't see a lot of animes like it. Compared to now, almost every anime feels samey.

Hell I might actually watch monster now that I think about it. Never got to finish it.

Cutting out a large portion of media is moronic, anime has alot of trash like every other media, i think i have watched 4 series and 2 movie which isn't alot but that is because i was looking for something to watch and it just so happened to be an anime.

If something looks good no matter the media/genre/language ill watch/play/read it

Monster is the only one that comes to mind in terms of art design and story.

dunno that. there's anime (in hello kitty artstyle if you mind that) that are actually dark. aggretsuko. i like this anime because it is rather unique in both artstyle (very cute) and what it is all about (being an adult)

That's the problem right there. You're limiting yourself to series like that and jumping into conclusion by saying all anime are like that.

Try expand your search to battle shonen and seinen etc instead of slice of life.

I don't really watch anime anymore as well unless it really catches my attention with plot and the themes. the anime that I watch are more realistic with more mature themes like Welcome To the NHK. Trigun, Shiki, Monster, Space Dandy, Samurai champ loo. I just find most anime other then the ones that I mentioned are basically the same boring show just being done differently but with the same themes just being done over and over again.

Despite the fact that I've been getting roped into watching anime again, I'm with you there. I can't even be bothered to learn what's coming out.

Most anime I don't even glance at, edgerunners is the only recent anime I know exists.

isekai is just about played out, there are a couple notable exceptions however.

Ascendancy of a Book Worm for example actually has a decent backstory and a decent main character.
