I cleaned my mouse pad now it doesn't feel the same
Hello I recently cleaned my mouse pad by putting it in a sink of soapy hot water from the kettle and then let it dry, at first it was perfect but I felt it needed a little extra glide so I used black boot polish to get that extra slip, now it doesn't glide the same and my mouse keeps getting some black residue in the sensor please help me. How do I clean it some people told me to olive oil it and it will bring out the boot polish . Thank you .

The mouse pad is a G-SR-SE (RED)

doesnt soap and hot water remove the black boot polish?
olive oil will stick to the pad too, thats not desired

you should get something like silicone spray and put that on a cleaned mousepad if you want it to have more glide

I used black boot polish and I know it sounds stupid but I was trying to go for the rustic vintage kinda look, now it doesn't glide

is your problem that you cant remove the boot polish now or are you trying to put something on it?

I haven't tried that yet but I don't want to make it worse

The furniture polish will fix it, spray on and then rub into it until smooth and slippery.
you get to keep the rustic look as well.
So long as the HOT water didn't damage the foam like mat. It may have absorbed it.
In future a microfiber cloth with some degreaser will clean it.

what on earth would compel you to put blooming shoe polish on the mouse mat? gently washing it with lukewarm water and a little soap then letting it dry naturally is the best and only way to clean a mousemat without damaging it. You pretty much ruined it by adding the shoe polish.

its probably easier for you to buy a new one at this point, can't see the polish being that easy to get 100% out of it.

Should I put it in the dish washer and cross my fingers?

Buy a new mouse mat is the correct answer. You've wrecked this one.
Just make sure you get one with RGB lighting.

but I still prefer a wired gaming mouse....

You simply could use the: CORSAIR Gaming-Mouse pad MM100 Medium (Width: 320 mm, depth: 3 mm, height: 270 mm) or: CORSAIR MM350 Extended XL or: Corsair MM300 Extended Mouse pad

Why didn't you put clear masking tape on your mouse's feet? You can even order special mouse booties for your mouse to glide better on a mouse pad. Black shoe polish. Any shoe polish, ugh. :steamfacepalm:
mouse booties heh
