Games aren't fun if you play alone.
I buy all these games on the steam market that look really fun and look them up on youtube to see if they're any good. If i do decide to buy it I'll play it for a few hours and then just get bored of it. Time and time again I just get sick of games for no reason. I always go back to a select few even though I own plenty of others. In my opinion, games are just better when you're playing with someone. Even if the game is pretty lame, joking around with someone will always make it better. So if you're finding some games getting boring, find a few people to play with :)

1. The most played games for mostly everyone are multiplayer games because there's a new challenge every time you play which means unlimited fun.
2. Single player games are repetitive, you can replay a single player game and expect the same thing to happen every game, but with a multiplayer game, you go against new people, and there's always a newer situation depending on the game.
3. A single player game can beat a multiplayer game only for the amount of time it takes you to beat it which is generally under 50 hours. Most people don't touch a single player game after they beat it cuz they don't like repetition.

I just don't see how Singleplayer games are generally "better" when it comes to facts. Im not one sided though, I get the best of both worlds, i play everything because I like to have as much fun as possible. I know you said it's your opinion in your last sentence but I don't know if the rest was an opinion or a critique. At the end of the day, everyone is different, and has different tastes, so you can like what you like, just don't be a elitist.

1. The most played (i.e. the most popular) doesn't mean they're the best. Just look at popular music. Yes, there is a new challenge each time you play a multiplayer game, but those type of challenges are generally the same every time, with little variation. In PvP games, the challenge is basically just to kill your opponents, rinse and repeat.

2. Decent singleplayer games will have more than one plot path and/or character customisation, meaning the game can be played through at least several times, with a different outcome each time.

3. I have a number of singleplayer games that I've returned to again and again. Just look at games like Skyrim - some players have clocked up hundreds, even thousands of hours on them. Remember also that a multiplayer game only exists for as long as its servers are active. Will anyone still be playing TF2 in 20 years time? I doubt it. Yet, I can still play and enjoy 20 year old singleplayer games.

But like you said, everyone has different tastes.

1. Popular music doesn't fail to be catchy though, there's a reason its popular. "the challenge is basically just to kill your opponents, rinse and repeat." I could say the exact same thing about single player, no argument. In fact, the different strategies one can take, the inspiration to improve, and the enjoyment of a real life challenge is a advantage for multiplayer games. In single player, they're in the same position every time and pose no threat for the average gamer. The majority of single player games involve killing people so..

2. Valid point if we're talking RPGs, it doesn't hold up to the replay ability of multiplayer games, but if it works for you, that's great. In that case, maybe if you looked into unique multiplayer games, you'd like some instead of CS:GO, TF2, and Fortnite

3. Counter Strike 1.6 is a game from 2000, it's my most played game, it's in the top 100 of games with the most cuncurrent players, and a lot of people play it illegally, so it should be higher. The top 5 most played games are multiplayer, also you assume people are gonna walk away from a multiplayer game when it's old, I proved you wrong, actually most old single player games can't even break 1000 concurrent players on the charts, so that's an L for single player. I hate it because Half Life, Deus Ex, Thief, Red Faction are good old games, but like I said, people never touch em after they play them. Just how it is for a lot of people. I'm glad you go back and replay though, much respect.

I can agree on this. I find games way more fun when I play with others even if I am just watching someone else play a single player game or they are watching me.

Now adays online games do not really cut it for me compared to having people in the same room because hell then it is a party!

Depends on the game for me.

Different strokes for different folks. Sometimes you want the company, but sometimes you wanna get lost in the world.

I completely disagree. Multiplayer games are boring. They're very repetitive and unoriginal, especially PvP games. Nothing beats a singleplayer game with a good story, in my humble opinion.
Exactly this.

You've played Nier:Automata, one of the best SINGLEplayer games, and reached to that conclusion? Man, what is wrong with you? I mean, seriously?

For me, multiplayer games ruined single player games. I sometimes regret this, because I used to love them and never felt anything was missing. For many years now (it really started with Ultima Online), games without multiplayer don't engage me all that much anymore, just like you described. They have a much lower "stickiness" factor than they used to.

It's unfortunate, because the other extreme (MMOs) also doesn't work for me. Those games take too much time or come with responsibilities where you feel guilty if you don't play. Or they are massive grinds where you have to play 8-12+ hours a day to get anywhere.

Then there's the problem with expectations that people have in multiplayer games. If you are not playing up to someone's standards, you are in for a poor social experience. This even happens in "beginner" settings. And if you can't (or don't want to) schedule your gaming time, it's difficult to find regular folks to play with. 99% of my multiplaying lately is done with my girlfriend.

I look forward to Valve's Artifact in large part because I think it will give me the multiplayer experience that I'm looking for (it'll have chat) without a ton of social responsibilities and time requirements.

What games do you play?

I totally like co-op games with friends but when I play something that focus on offering an immersive story I prefer going solo so I can do things at my own pace.

I can enjoy a single player experience, but unless there's someone to play with, I probably won't repeat that game.

I often feel the same way. I just love to watch friends play, have friends watch me, or play together with friends.

It depends on my mood, sometimes I play single player games the " me time " just to relax. Sometimes I play multi-player games the " we time ", just to play with others to have fun.

This is truth.

The ONLY exception I've found to this is playing Conan Exiles. But I prefer Ark and Empyrion solo, hell I even prefer WoW solo and only bother with other players when i must.
