During the end of the toasting, when the bread is browned in the toaster oven.

I space out little chunks of butter all over the bread and put it back in the toaster oven to let the butter melt a little. Then I spread the butter while singing.

I'm being honest we have a toaster but also an oven so we would use one or the other from time to time and actually there is a thing my parents rarely do which is a sort of sandwhich with cheese and ham and you put it in the oven and it's done. Not a big fan of cheese ever but it's something that some peoples may try here.

I take my ryebread sometimes and just put it in the oven, then when they have been baked a bit, I top them with some salt.
Nobody eat toast?... that is awful white bread, without any nutrience.

In a regular toaster? obviously after, it would make a huge mess otherwise, and butter is way easier to spread when the bread is hot.

If i'm making a hamburger or hotdog in the toaster oven than before, because in addition to butter there will be ketchup and cheese and other stuff. I want heated up on the bun.

sandwich wity ham and cheese roasted.. now that my friend is a tosty and it is marvelous...
but you dont do that in an oven.. you do that in your waffle iron grill thing..

and ofcourse when I as a dutchie say cheese I mean aged gouda cheese...
not the plastic tasteless crap sold in many nations as cheese;)
