No, we're still part of Europe we just left the Trade Organisation of the EU. We're still beholden to the European Court of Human Rights too.
Every should be based of SI units, even if indirectly.
For example, I can understand why Celsius is used instead of Kelvins, makes sense when 0 degrees C is freezing 100 degrees C is boiling water ( on altitude) but Kelvin and Celcius have linear relationship anyway K=C+273.15 unlike the convoluted process of converting Farenheight to Kelvin K=((F-32)*5)/9 +273.15, but having said this is have no problem if the weather report of the day was "Sunny, with a slight breeze in the afternoon at a top of 300 Kelvins".
I do prefer to use miles over km, inches (and feet) over cm, but hardly for yards and acre (or hectare, it's rare), because I don't normally deal with such measurements on daily basis on the latter. The reason that US military uses metric because simply it's international, and of course it's nature is to deal with people around the globe every day.
SI units is a scientifically established set of units based on physics rather than arbitrary an non standard references of measurement such as "feet" based on the human foot, or "pound" which has Roman origins equivalent to the weight of 7,000 grains, etc.

no, don't know that, never been to that place.
You would still have strongest hand on steering wheel, even the driver seat on the left, matter of fact, almost everyone does because almost everyone is right handed.
If you drive manual, then only times that you hold the steering wheel with left hand are when you shift the gear, but those only take like brief of seconds. Then again though, being right handed, it's easier to shift gear often with right hand than left hand, because it's also easier to use left hand to be guided on moment of steering wheel than shift the stick gear in different directions. I still would use right hand on steering wheel most of the time, like on freeways or highways.
Yea well, that actually sounds like they need to be more consistent on making better devices that can convert unit measurements, than to make excuse about the past of old unit measurements, considering how crazy technology is today compared to the past. I mean, to be fair, on daily basis, whenever people converse to each other on unit measurements, they are all estimated very approximately. Like for example, you talk to me about how tall a person is, then I can only imagine in my head of that measurement, but surely never accurately. Same thing goes with weight in lbs, speed in mile per hour, length in feet and inches, etc.
Bottom line is that I don't see what a big deal is. Today, even at any market or store, even in third world countries, they surely all have adequate scales to accurately exchange things in whatever unit measurement that they are custom to.
Only 3 countries in the world DON'T use the metric system as their official system of measurements: United States, Liberia, and Myanmar.
American exceptionalism is an embarrassment. Yanks need to wake up to themselves and get with the times. USA is self immolating out of sheer stupidity.
Yea but what is the big deal though?! I just don't see what the big deal is, all it needs is just simple conversion, and machines do that for you nowadays, not you. I know that I complained a lot about weird stuff in Europe, but mainly out of humor and ignorance, but certainly not unit measurements, or custom in general. If I live in a place and I don't travel outside of that place whole my life, why should I have to change my own custom to be like the rest of the world? or just because few scientists use them on daily basis? Complaining the old unit measurements is like complaining why we are still speaking English, or just 1 language, which almost everyone surely still prefer to do, because I would not definitely want to be forced to learn another language, like tomorrow.
They brexited so hard they are no longer part of the contnient.
Pretty sure that's a EU4 mod too.
Make everyone drive on the right side of the car on the right side of the road.
And cars where you steer on the left side have ave to drive on the left side of the road.
What could possibly go wrong.
According to your logic, everyday Italians should still be crunching numbers with Roman Numerals out of national pride. It's stupid. This is why the rest of the world pretty much looks at America with disdain and contempt for being so steeped in tradition and crippled by her own jingoistic neurosis that reason goes out the window.
This thinking holds back the progress of an entire country and is a good way to accelerate decline of a nation. There is also a symbolism of shunning SI units, it means that a country doesn't value science or scientific institutions. These should be a revered source of national pride, the world would be a lot different without MIT and other such institutions in USA making enormous contributions to the progress of humankind, but so many Americans take these achievements for granted and shun science like they have tall poppy syndrome or something. The free world needs a strong America but unfortunately ignorance is crippling the nation and I see a future where it is no longer the no.1 super power because it is held hostage to irrational ideologies.
I mean, if you want a false sense of freedom by clinging onto relics of the past like the imperial system so that you're a unique pariah state sure, but if you haven't noticed that hasn't stopped the technocracy from achieving domination.
