weird insta free followers apps. how do they work, dangerous?
i was looking at these apps but they're probably scam and want you to login with your acc?
which isn't a good idea obviously. i don't get why google doesn't remove them..

i've also seen people follow a huge amount of accounts and after a while they unfollow in the hope you follow them. and the same with likes
is that what these things do?

i won't use them. i think it's scummy. just curious.

Could work in the fact they just follow each other, but will probably also just use/abuse your account and privacy for their own purpose (which could be anything). There seems no reason, but this one also tends to attempt to access root level and even the camera. Why? I haven't actually downloaded or run it to fully check, but that should give you at least some heads up.

I've never understood this "#like4follow" BS or anything like that. If you really need/depend on those apps and free followers instead of gaining them through quality content, you probably don't deserve followers at all.

I made a mistake once and was featured on a "Scene Gurls" whatever instagram account and now my account is worthless because of all those unimportand and uninteresting people following me.

I wonder if there is any kind of legal action you can take against that account for doing that without your permission.

Buying subs isn't anything new. There's been foreign companies with thousands of fake accounts that will follow, upvote, comment on and retweet your stuff for a price.

Big companies use it too to promote their movies and products (and promote controversy)

People buy followers and likes. This is already known.
It's not dangerous. It's confusing.

Receiving payment for it, could be hurtful or damaging in some indirect way. Because they are taking advantage of a flawed system, and the owners may not like that. But they could be powerless to do anything against it.

I have no knowledge on modern apps to "earn" followers, but I can tell you the following, in a non-technical way that you could understand:

- Back in the day, YouTube also had apps to boost channel and video views. These apps basically established a connection to one or multiple proxy servers to boost your views. Essentially, it was like hitting F5 to refresh the pages, except these apps did it with one or multiple connections (could be your "real" connection, or other connections, proxy connections). No people were involved in the process.

- There are sites to boost your Facebook likes, for your business page or your personal page. These sites can be community-based or bot-based. Community-based sites have real (and fake) users who like your posts for a reward. Bot-based sites are sites that create fake accounts that instantly like your posts or page as soon as you "buy" their likes. Facebook removes these fake likes with time, when the fake accounts are detected and disabled.

- You should avoid these apps and sites AND you should also avoid legitimate ways to get "paid" likes too. Both legitimate and illegitimate ways attract bots and fake accounts. In my case, the Facebook Advertising tools gave me illegitimate likes from people that clearly don't exist. Facebook removed these likes from my pages and gave me an advertising coupon, only to get more fake followers.

Fake followers are not the answer to being popular on the Internet. If you want to be popular, you must do something cool and be something cool. The difference between paid followers or fake followers and real followers, is that real followers follow you and fake ones don't.

I don't think so ... it's like a free real estate. I even made my account private but that changed nothing since now I get hundreds of hundreds notifications from people who want permission to follow me. Might as well start another account.
