Why do people listen to celebrities?

I just don't get it. These people don't give a crap about us and just virtue signal and never practice what they preach. It kind of makes me sick to see George Clooney clickbait. Is it just the glamour? if you are one of those infatuated with hollywood celebrities, please explain to me why? I'm not here to flame you, I just want to know what the appeal is

I couldn't name 5 celebrities if you asked me to point them out. (Unless they come from pre-2002ish)

Who listens? I just enjoy their art. I didn't know they had much to say really..

They get paid millions of dollars for doing an easy job. After a while it's easy for a person in that position to think they deserve that money because they are better than anyone else. Thus we see all these self-appointed Hollywood "experts" giving their advice/opinions on topics most of which are totally unrelated to acting.

Celebrities are like American nobility. A ruling class to fawn over and kowtow. Only in America can a reality star and WWE Hall of Famer achieve the presidency.

It just makes no sense they talk about energy consumption and open borders yet have multiple empty mansions with room and using said energy yet make media headlines for telling us to do as they say, not how they act. It's just so hypocritical.

Please guys, if we get people who are honest about why they care about hollywood glamour do not make fun of them. I just want to know why ...

Some monarchies and third world countries are very nice and not given to blind following of celebrities. Not that any of them are mutually exclusive. Sweden is a great third world country with a monarchy.

I personally did not enjoy my 2 days in country, but it wasn't for pleasure. I do see a lot of Swedes on here, although many times when viewing their political debates, I find myself watching from the sidelines, in opposition. I do understand your point though. I wish I could live in Chile.

Yeah, the world is going to be in quite a lot of trouble soon with the rate of population and consumption but there is not much a single average working person can do to change it. All I think we can do is live for ourselves and the people that actually matter in our lives, not for celebrities.
