Why do female athletes dress so skimpily?
I was just watching women's long jump championships for some reason and I noticed that the women all wear WAY too revealing outfits, like they wear the smallest shorts imaginable and then they pull it up their butt crack so their whole butt cheeks stick out. The male athletes don't do this, so is it just to entertain straight male viewers or something? It's just so cringe and embarrassing to watch as someone who isn't into that, I mean how can they expect anyone to take them seriously as athletes when they're running around flashing their whole butt like that? And they do this is almost all women's sports not just long jump.

Dunno. But NBA players used to wear short shorts. And tighter tops. Now they dress baggy. Most women's sports do not need the bikinis. A pole vaulter has a valid reason.

U think atheletes design their uniform?
The organization does that.
And it's not only the whole big athletes thing, looks at some school athletes uniform.
The design is very different between gender.

So at the end, it's not the athelete's fault.

In most cases you should be blaming the authority in charge of the team, not the individual athletes. Pushback against this stuff by athletes is becoming more common and respected, which is good.

Having said that, if you can’t take an athlete seriously because you can see some of their butt, that’s on you.
Because more men will watch them dressed skimpily.
For those 100+ million view YouTube thumbnails. It's what makes women's sports as profitable as it is, especially track running. Personally, I dislike it, I think it's shameful, but I dislike many things about modern sports.
Because their outfits are designed that way, and it's not accidental... Have you seen women's American football outfits...? It's all about sports... and totally not sexist... :EsheUnimpressed:
Yeah i think men designed women's uniforms which are impractical sometimes and not always suited for the sport, I think real sports women need to be in the decision making when it comes to uniforms, If a woman is comfortable while competing I'm sure she'll do better.

There's an ongoing movement in professional sports, specifically the Olympics/Gymnastics, etc, to push for "less revealing" clothing and the like that allows more focus on the athlete as an athlete rather than a display of jiggly bits.

There are some practical considerations, though. No athlete wants their world-record performance impeded by someone's notion of "decency." So, that's something that athletes need to come together in agreement for as well.

It is, currently, a topic of pretty intense interest with a lot of weird disparity in men's and women's sporting events.

You watch women's sports unironically? I don't judge, you do you.

You know, I never watched that when I was younger. I was already interested in "real girls" at that time, so TV wasn't a sufficient distraction.

The other day, I tuned into a TV channel that shows "old TV shows" because they have an entire evening line-up of all the Star Trek series! Coo, right? And, somewhere before or after that run of all the series, they have "Baywatch."

I'd never seen it before, so you have to understand my surprise...

"Why the heck wasn't I the absolute biggest fan of this darn show when it aired?"

:)

I called a friend of mine to tell him of the experience...

"Dude, I never watched it, but did you ever actually watch the Baywatch thing?"

"You mean you never knew about that, truly," he laughed.

"I knew of it, but I didn't really know "of it," if you get my meaning - I never watched it."

"Well, congratulations on the discovery most of us learned about, long ago."

"You should have told me, " I complained.
