Why do female athletes dress so skimpily?
I was just watching women's long jump championships for some reason and I noticed that the women all wear WAY too revealing outfits, like they wear the smallest shorts imaginable and then they pull it up their butt crack so their whole butt cheeks stick out. The male athletes don't do this, so is it just to entertain straight male viewers or something? It's just so cringe and embarrassing to watch as someone who isn't into that, I mean how can they expect anyone to take them seriously as athletes when they're running around flashing their whole butt like that? And they do this is almost all women's sports not just long jump.

don;t all track and field athletes dress that way?
it's to cut down wind resistance.

Tbh though, i gave up on sport as a whole, I stopped seeing the point in people competing with each other for meaningless goals, Like, Does it matter if you can jump the highest?, run the fastest?, be the heavyweight champ?

I don't see the point anymore, i guess i lost interest in sport.

Seconded. I used to watch some sports. And Wide World Of Sports type shows. In the before times when there were no video games. Now sports are just boring.

Maybe it results in more cheering, thus more adrenaline, and ergo greater jumps. Which came to mind, because it's the same sentiment behind why zodiac signs might have some degree of validity, as the time of year (temperature, seasonal behaviour of the parents/mother, etc) could influence fetal development. (For example: If it's winter and your mother suffers from winter depression, then she might drink. It's the same general idea, as athlete thottery also changes the environment.)

Then, of course, women have a different anatomy and can sit in ways men can't. And men can lift in ways women can't. Etc. So it makes sense for both to wear different attire. Which really doesn't excuse that butt-flapping though. Not that I ever watch it, but yeah...

Uh. Of course... I am not trying to be sexist here. Right. Men and women... don't have different anatomy. Yeah. It's absolutely equal for both genders to wear the same things. Thottery outfits and bikinis for male athletes, now!

Cut tops and thongs help with aerodynamics.

For the same reason that swimmers don't wear parkas.

Compare pics of male pole-vaulters and female pole-vaulters. See what they're wearing? Long-jump, too, and some other track-and-field events.

Also, read the article I linked - In events like "beach volleyball" men can wear shorts that are above the knee, women must wear bikini bottoms. :)

No, it's not about "wind-resistance" when a female pole-vaulter is wearing a strip of dental floss.

Women athletes want more power to decide their clothing and I'd think the men would, as well, too. There is surely disparity there between what is selected for either, though, and there's money and viewership that are somewhat behind the issue, too.

PS: I am willing to set aside my own lasciviousness in order to empower female athletes... /sadface

So, you are going with the two wrongs will make a right argument?

Because their outfits are designed that way, and it's not accidental... Have you seen women's American football outfits...? It's all about sports... and totally not sexist... :EsheUnimpressed:
...but I don't think male long jump competitors wear skimpy bikinis in the same fashion.

What? What are you talking about?! Men wear shorts that are mid thigh long, women wear basically panties...

Comparison what men wear:

Well because we lack balls we can wear tighter clothing, and tighter clothing just so happens to find its way up your butt easier, its just the way it is.

You will probably notice a lot of the athletes trying to loosen it up when it ends up there. They don't intentionally wear them like thongs, its just a bad side effect of a lot of movement and tight athletic clothing.

They could be redesigned and made into longer shorts which a lot of women want, they might slightly restrict movement more but at least they won't end up in awkward places.

If they competed naked like at the Olympics back in Ancient Greece then people might actually watch the Olympic Games. :steammocking:

U think atheletes design their uniform?
The organization does that.
And it's not only the whole big athletes thing, looks at some school athletes uniform.
The design is very different between gender.

So at the end, it's not the athelete's fault.
I think I remember reading something about that in regards to women's tennis.
I had to be a cheerleader for two semesters in high school The skirt I had to wear had a large gap over the leg and ended halfway down my thigh. Found out last year that the ones they gave to plus-sized girls had no gaps, were longer, and had built-in shorts.
