in Nigeria the avarage life expectacy is is 54 years old (most die between 40-50)
Even in countries like the US a lot of people die between 40-50, like a huge chunk.. people don´t understand that the "expected" is much higher than you should think, because some age to 90-100 years of age, they screw the statistics.. I reckon the real median in most western countries are 55-65 spectrum.
Factor in that once you are 50, all the avarage citizens are broken and have issues with much after a harsh work life.
In the high middel age it was actually around 55 and the "elite" often was as old as we are today, so well... The difference is that now, the avarage person got a chance to go 60+ in most developed areas and ofc be "keept" alive with modern medicine.
Tbh anything above 30, is "risk of sudden death arise" that is also where many learn they are not immortal, after 30 everything ache..
But most people will never reach the "expected" life age, since its a median, 1/3 will die at 55-65 and then a 1/3 at 75-85 and the last will go 85-100.
Then ofc a very few amount will be very young and a very few above 100.
It also depends on your genes, life profession, life style, etc etc.. so many varibles..
But I think it is weird for people to "calculate" with being 80... I would most likely go with "above 60 is, you can die at any moment" statements.
Not that it really matters, because most likely when we die, we wont remember anything anyway, not this debate, nor our expectations about how long we lived... in 500 years from now, nobody will talk about most of us and those few that will be talked about (crazy madmen most likely) will not be know for their personality etc.. but just for some speculative achivement and emotional state.
0-1 baby
1-4 toddler
4-6 preschooler
6-9 schooler
9-12 preteen
12-16 pubecent
16-21 adolecent
21-45 adult
45-65 middle aged
65-75 elderly
75+ senior
so a person of below 45 is not middle ages.. but 45 and up is..
by the books :
-adults are working, they usually get children, buy their first house, they have ended their formaitive years and now start preparing the next generation
-middle aged, they are done getting kids, but their kids are usually not completely independent of them yet.. with their kids in their teens, or in college they still strongly need to pay for that.. they are usually at the peak of their profession.. and saving up of their older days.
-elderly still have no ailments of old age.. their children have left the nest, and they have still a few years of work and good income left.. these are the golden years where they usually experience a life standard they never had before..
so while these age classes do define things.. there is also a mental component in what stage of life one is;)
A few of my dads friends died in their 60's and 70's but people like my granny is going quite well in her mid 90's, Shes still quite active.
I'm 37 but i feel like I'm not going to make it past my 60's or 70's because I've lived a hard life, So my age feels middle aged to me.

Because top 100 countries are expected to live to 74-85 (or 80 in average)
However, don't let numbers fool you. After 40, your body no longer develops, your memory will start to drop. Your health will start to have issue. That means you will experience a faster life (e.g. wake up in morning, work and suddenly it's night time). So the other 50% is faster..
I've definitely noticed that. The memory loss is the second worst thing about getting old. I forget what the first thing is.
If you get hit by a truck on your 14th birthday, then about 6-8 would be middle aged.
I'm gonna do that until the day I die
"How do you do, fellow kids?"
No but seriously, I foresee myself dying young. Currently in the calendar year that I always thought I was gonna die in, and I'm sure it won't be long
If I do get older, when I'm in my 60s 70s 80s if I make it *that* long, my body will be rickety old as hickory, I'll be doing morphine like Gordon Freeman
