Is 40-50 considered middle age?
When I was young, I always assumed that 30 years old was considered middle age. But it seems to be not the case anymore according to what some people have told me (one of them being 30 years old.) If I can recall, life expetancy is somewhere around the 70's with some people living around 100 but not sure about the statistical data on that one.

If 70 or higher is considered to be the life expectancy than I assumed 40-50 would be considered middle age?

Yes. But life expectancy is much more than just 70. The people that die young drag the average life expectancy way down. Like when infants die. If you make it to 70 you can expect to keep going.

30 "middle age"?... when? in 1756?

As time goes along "middle age" gets further and further along... but mostly 40 - 50 -ish has been considered "middle age"

More and more peoples live to be in their 80's now days with today's technology and they live great lives. Some peoples are in better shape at 60 than a lot of peoples are/were at 35-40.
Life expectancy is changing as fast as medicine tech, so all this past stereotype about what age you should be considered old is going down the drain fast
According to party supply vendors, 40 is "over the hill".
35ish
I don't think 50 is middle aged. I'm 54 and over the hill...

This is all a mindset thing.Age is a number in modern days. It doesn’t matter if your are middle aged at 30 or 50 or whatever. Many people will reach 100 and above because we live longer and longer. There is also the fact that people which look younger live longer. Biological aspect and genetics are Important as well but also how you life your life. I have seen so many people with 25 which look like on step away from their grave and 60+ year old young healthy beautiful people.Relax nothing awful about getting more mature just do something for your health and don’t smoke

You did? What post?
In medieval times, 30 years of age, used to be the maximum life expectancy.

Today, 30 is considered very young age.

40 to 60+ is usually considered to be a middle age, today.

Don't mix life expectancy with life quality, though! Or, how many years you live with how much physically active you can be. The best answer is provided through science; when a human's reproductive ability starts to deteriorate, then you know they are in middle age. ~40-45 is when most people are at.

Not really. That was just the average age of people dying. Which is a meaningless number. You average all the infants that died along with everyone else that died of diseases. Plenty of people lived to be over 60. Just like today. Our average number is higher today because we don't die of diseases as much and our children survive infancy.

Last I checked, somewhere including or after 43 years old was considered "middle aged."

Middle-Aged does not necessarily mean "halfway through life." It's more about being a certain middle stage in late adulthood and involves more than chronological age. (IMO)

When your knees squeak louder than the bed you just got out of, you'll know you're there...
