Why do modern tanks not have muzzle breaks?

Stuff like Abrams, T-62's, Challenger tanks (I'm not a tank expert so do correct me if I'm wrong) noticeably do not have them.

Modern MBTs don`t really need them anymore because they mainly use apfsds rounds that have a casing that gets discarded after leaving the barrel.
Also their recoil mechanisms are lot better designed now then back in the days reducing the need for it even further.

Doubt they really care much about that anymore with the firing distances, modern optics and thermals that can cut through smoke, low visibility and bad weather conditions.

thats what the bore evacuator is for (the bump on the barrel).
as for visibility, as pointed out, thats not really a concern or something that can be negated in a practical manner (and a muzzle break does little to change anything in that respect).

also worth pointing out regarding the discarding sabots (APFSDS) in case it wasnt obvious: a muzzle break can interfere with the sabots, knocking the projectile off course and/or getting stuck, damaging things, etc.

also worth a mention is the fact that modern tank guns are not rifled either, the projectiles themselves are (fin) stabilized mostly.
in addition, a smooth bore allows for firing various rockets (such as some ATGMs) out of the gun in cases where this is applicable (not all tanks use this).

current rounds is so powerful the air from the muzzle break actually harms friendlies near eat. Even the firefly don't have it in ww2

Apparently ( I googled this so I don't know why you didn't, lol ) the muzzle break interferes with the sabot, which tends to catch in the break. This makes the shell significantly less accurate. Since tanks frequently use that type of ammo ( and not field guns ) that's why the difference.

I got no idea what that means other than it being an abbreviation a tank round type.

Armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot.
It`s basically big solid metal dart that is surrounded by casing to help it propel through the barrel and casing gets discarded once it leaves the barrel.
It has very high velocity compared to regular tank rounds and punches through the tank armor.

Most use subcaliber ammunition nowadays, so no need for a muzzlebreak (they are even smoothbore)
