Looking for advice on starting to learn video editing
1. First and foremost, what is a good video editing software. I am not rich so if it costs a couple hundred, count me out. I do own 3 already which I purchased under the thinking they are a good software to start with. I have;
- HD Movie Maker Pro (which seems to be sad garbage)
- Magix Video Pro X
- Movavi Video Editor Plus 2022
Anyone used and recommended either Magix or Movavi?

2. Anyone recommended any good YouTube videos on beginning to learn video editing basics? If not a YouTube channel, a website with articles on basics? Anything will help.

3. Any additional hardware I should consider for use to help with recording or while editing? I do have an okay web cam and a a cheap condenser mic with live sound card (The type of ones you can buy for about $50-70 on Amazon). I was thinking of just doing simple podcast style videos and possibly short skits. The podcast section would be my main focus and if I did start doing that, it would be talking to Steam friends while gaming which leads to....

4. Any additional software to consider to capture game footage with sound and Steam chat dialogue with the boys?

I know it's a lot to ask but I'm not looking for detailed answers here, although I would not mind if they are. Really, if anything, I just need a point in the right direction for all these answers. Or any tips, advice, any help really.... Thank you much for any responses and help. Greatly appreciate it!

I work in animations professionally and use Adobe Premier and After Effects (but it's a paid subscription via Creative Cloud).

BUT if you're looking for a beginner (and free!) software then Adobe Rush will work.

You can edit the sounds within movie softwares but if you get into more elaborate audio work then a sound software can help and many are also free (I use Sound Forge but it's paid but there are plenty of freebie versions which I'm not up to date with currently).

Windows movie maker.
Once you learn how to cut the video up, you're good to go.

For software I'm partial to DaVinci Resolve. It does everything I need. I can't comment on the ones you're using.

For hardware:

Lots of ram. My main has 64GB DDR4. You could go 32GB as minimum to start.

Also dedicate a HDD or preferably an SSD for a scratch disk/memory cache, probably a 1TB would be a good start, especially if you're doing any 4K stuff.

A nice widescreen monitor. I use a 30" ultra along with a 27" wide. The more GUI space the better.

Budget will certainly be an obstacle but if you get going on the right foot you'll have less frustration when it comes to performance.
