Anybody who says "well do something about it then" is completely missing the point. I could win 2 20 million on the lottery and i'd still have all the problems i have, i'd just have more money to spend on escapism!
You know, at least in most cases I would say that it is the real world that caused harm to the psyche of a person.
Honestly I cannot think of a situation in which escapism could be the original cause of psychological harm,
That's because they don't teach Narcissus and other Greek Mythology in school like they use too...
Real world doesn't harm... unless one lets it. But escapism ( and I'm not talking about watching a 2 hour movie to entertain oneself ) in the long run harms one's ~sense of~ reality... and when reality DOES come crashing back in... they can't handle it and crawl further into their fantasy world. Escapism is the ultimate "Ignorance is bliss"... but it doesn't work, the real world only remains and people need to deal with it rather then run to escapism every time their feels get bruised.
Edit:
Not to mention... people now have the false idea that their escapism ~IS~ reality and others need to not only accept but take part in their escapism so they can survive the real world because their escapism is the only "reality" they can handle now after being exposed to it for so long.
And that's not going to happen.
Just like everybody else, you too are slowly dying even now, while reading my posts on the forum. We'll see how much real world does not harm when the damage will be so much that you will be forced to think about it. I spend most of my time on escapism and I'm still less illuded than most of you.
Or maybe I spend most of my time on escapism exactly because I am less illuded than most of you.
Real world does a lot of harm. Both on your psyche and on your body as well, in variouis ways and for various reasons. I'd like to know how long it will take you to become less illuded than an escapism lover liike me.
Yep. Took me 10+ years before i got enough and couldnt do it anymore.
Is escaping all that harmful if you are capable of getting back to reality?
So, be the exception that proves the rule. Become the change you want to see. Set an example for your peers to follow, and let it be a damn good one.
Escapism helps with giving peace even for a little bit.
