God of War
Picked up God of War for PS4 Pro. Great graphics and ambient sounds but the level design is pretty bad in a creative sense. The pseudo, over the shoulder view is nothing new for a combat game and hinders immersion. Voice acting is sub par. Really wish the devs would have stuck to the tried and true gameplay mechanics like GOW2 & 3.

I'm at the part just past the World Serpent and from what i've played, this game in no way warrants the numerous "100" scores. In no way whatsoever does it hold a candle to Horizon Zero Dawn or even Assassin's Creed: Origins. Assassin's Creed: Origins destroys God of War. In short, God of War is a highly over-rated game. A one-and-done play through with little to nothing left to do after all is done. Very mediocre so far and a shame, really. Not ever action-action adventure game needs "loot" drops and crafting materials. Especially in a God of War game. You are a "god". A god doesn't need earthly materials to be strong.

So?

I just want the original experience back. No emphasis on storytelling, no sidekicks, no crafting.

Just spinning around like a baillerina with two swords on chains.

PCMR still wins overall, even though Horizon Zero Dawn obliterates most every game on the PC.

GoW 2 & 3 did everything right for an action/adventure game. More enemies on the screen. Absolutely awesome combat mechanics and level design in both of those games. I cannot see how and why the decision was made to turn this new GoW into a linear, drama fueled crafting fest. Waited a long time for the new one and had a feeling it was going to be bland, but not this bland. I mean, i'm literally shook as to how casual it is.

1. So? Who cares?
2. HZD doesn't 'obliterate' anything, the game is clunky, the animations suck, the storyline is SJW-pandering and the faces are Andromeda-tier.

Well they didn't hide at all that they were going for a new type of god of war game, it seems like they said what it was going to be. If you dont like it its not like you need to get it and with all the gods dead in the other god of wars there would be nothing to go off of really and most of all nothing to drive you to keep playing. I would not compare it to anything either because they are 2 different games made by 2 different sudios and if you think it were to copy it then simply just keep playing the game you like and act like nothing ever happened.

7/10 score. I think McDonald and especially Barlog, need to move on. Take GoW back to it's roots. Not this 3rd person millennial cringe fest whiney drama infused crafting jive.

lol, "millennial cringe fest whiney drama infused crafting jive"...been awhile since i last heard that one. Like i said there is no plot they could really have, maybe at best zeus comes back and we need to kill him again but other than that there is nothing that would really catch peoples attention. A story about a past god trying to climb to the top of a mountain, well that just seems better in third person imo and it is sure to get people who have never played any other god of war playing it.

Well yeah but they all fall into the same genre, Action/Adventure. Unless Origins is labeled as an RPG? Just saying GoW is nowhere near a 100 score or even comes close to the overall detail and quality of HZD and Origins.

Remember Cronos in GOW 3?

The "giants" in the new GoW from i've seen are tiny in comparison as if they don't belong to the overall story. In GoW 2 and 3 the world environments and creatures gave a sense of depth and power, in which added to the ominous tone of what you, the player had to accomplish and overcome.

Giants? I thought they were trolls, hmm maybe they are in the game later on but i must say the cutscenes have more cheese than 5 year aged goats milk cheese.

The story might be cheesy and edgy as hell but it's a fun game and that's what matters.

The new God of War decided to put storytelling ahead of gameplay and that's what's ruining it.

Agreed, if they ever do a dlc i would like to see heavy focus on combat and not story.

Perhaps the series was starting to struggle financially.
