It's George Liquor, but it's from the unfinished John K cartoon "Cans Without Labels.". The specific scene in my profile pic is only like a second long, but every single frame is a visual treat.
John K's problem is that he's the kind of person who should be head of a creative division, but really needs someone as a boss over him to keep him on the right track and not let him have too much power to go *too* crazy and fall behind deadlines.
I'm sad he never finished it. He's a man of great potential who seems to waste it by leaving a bad taste in the mouths of those who work with him.
But I admire his style and his humor
My parents wouldn't let me watch it as a kid, lol, which was probably a good idea.
Looking at it as an adult who really enjoys the art and process of animation, it's obvious that (at least the two seasons that John was director) they had a very limited budget. But I love that John's direction was "never the same face twice". They worked without a defined model to draw off of, so every scene they always look a little different, and I love that they pulled it off without it seeming off or wrong.
That and how they put so much energy into the animation, especially in Stimpy's Invention. Ren just feels like he can barely contain himself in his own skin, and I haven't seen many others that have captured that kind of intense energy.
but i think it's fine as long as it's true
