I just realized this is one of few non-compund words that I actually pronounce with a spondee in it.

Maybe the only one. I realized I didn't have many when FF7R came out and the characters all pronounced Midgar as MID-GAR. I always pronounced it as a troche, as in MID-gur, and as I tried to figure out why the spondee way sounded so weird, I discovered that there are virtually no spondee words in the English language.

I pronounce Vaporeon like one would pronounce Vapor and Eon. I also don't use Vaporeon because I always pick the Water starter, but that's how I pronounce it.

…Wrong. Depending on the game and what HMs the Water starter can learn, I might pick up another Water-type or two. Kind of partial to Lanturn in Gen II, for example.
