The point I’m trying to get across is attraction to a sex or gender or whatever it is now is a mental construct, you aren’t part of a group until you actively decide you are.

I can subconsciously like dudes, but that doesn’t make me gay, I have to acknowledge and process that I have those feelings before I realise I would be gay.

You are perhaps confusing two things. Actively participating in the LGBTQ community is indeed a choice but your sexuality/gender is not something you can change like if they were clothes

No, being gay doesn’t effect your gender, the term gay means a homosexual male.

This has nothing to do with, as you said “a hobby” which is apparently also what you think of the LGBTQ community.

Therefore it is your sexuality, being gay is accepting that you like males and are a male. There is no way around this. This is about as dictionary definition true as I can be. Homosexuality is a choice.
