If you have soldering skills you can just desolder the tabbed battery and solder the new one in.
If you don't then you can snap the tabs on the old battery, slide the old one out and put the new one in. Use insulation tape to hold everything together.
And tadaaa, you now have a restored GB cartridge that should last at least 15 years.
Mega Man III
Mega Man IV
Mega Man V
Mega Man Xtreme
Mega Man Xtreme 2
And if you want to have a miserable time, Mega Man II.
Tetris; probably.
Also, Space Invaders.
The downside with a lot of GB & GBC games is that the cartridges have batteries which maintain the saves & in-game clocks. If those batteries die then the saves & clocks will stop working; you lose all of your data & become unable to interact with time-based events.
For this reason, I find games that don't require you save & have short sessions (such as Tetris) to be the best ones for the Gameboy & Gameboy Color.
Anything else that you want to play for this system would be better suited picked up from the Nintendo 3DS e-shop. However, Ages & Seasons won't let you get into the Gameboy Advance shop (real in-game thing) on the 3DS VC, so they're probably still worth picking up a cartridge of for the traditional handheld.
Oh! How could I forget! Yes, these are the top 3 games to get for it!
Link's Awakening DX is in color; I never had it but it seems superior to the original, which I do have. (No, DX is not the Switch version & I'd recommend you try the retro GBC DX version in addition to the Switch version as they both have some very unique perspectives to provide.)
There's a real masterpiece of a game for Gameboy that is just called "Donkey Kong" but unlike the traditional arcade version of Donkey Kong, this one has a twist which basically makes it the precursor to the Vs. Donkey Kong series.
You'll see what I mean. It's a really good game.
It sets up your expectations for it to be only a 4 level game... hahaha... surprise!
Game & Watch Gallery were pretty good choices too. There's 3 of them.
I didn't find the 3rd one until 20 years later... I knew about it but never had it as a little kid.
Also, Harvest Moon GB was pretty good, imo, albeit rather repetitive.
Make sure you don't ever forget to feed your livestock or they'll become sad forever.
Pokemon Crystal is probably a better choice.
Lemme see if I can remember the hidden gems... Boxxle is a pretty good one if you find it.
I never played it but the Ganbare Goemon series is probably pretty good too - I'm basing this off of my experience with The Mystical Ninja & also, just the fact that the soundtrack is pretty good.
Marble Madness was one I had to get as an adult too.
The song for the beginner level is what really sold me on this game.
I did not know that this game existed until just now... I never heard of it.
I missed out.
I liked Ages, although, Seasons is definitely better, imo.
It's just so much more comfortable & affords you a lot more freedom of movement.
Even just traversing the map in Ages is like being in bondage.
Leaked battery acid, probably. You can clean that up with some baking-soda, water, and a q-tip.
Seasons is glorious...Ages not so much lol.
Ninja Gaiden Shadow
also yeah few would know of harvest moon 3, a big game for gb tho and gbc made it better
also there are some things in Link's Awakening DX that you'd never see and i think it unlocks the true ending with gbc
Pokémon Crystal Version (best mainline Pokémon game ever), Robopon Sun Version (neat little Pokémon knockoff, has an infrared port and speaker built into the cartridge, IR port is used with remote controls to unlock treasure chests in the game, speaker goes BEEP to inform you of certain in-game events), Monster Rancher Battle Card GB (neat TCG game), you're already getting Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Not sure how cheap (or not cheap) any of these are going to be.
Isn't that shut down? Or going to be this year?
Nintendo have forgotten the face of their father, sai.
Only flightless birds of the genus Dromaius remain. Who may or may not be tardy.
That is to say the Emu is late.
