When i think of "simp" it's those sad bastards who give money and buy presents for women online who they will never meet and never in a million years have sex with.

You can think of the word "simp" and smirk at how dumb and petty it is. Or how the people the word applies to are pitiful or pathetic, but remember that people like OP are being caught in the crossfire and they themselves have misinterpreted it.

Being a simp, in my opinion, means that you let certain other people to abuse you and treat you bad and take advantage of you.
