It isn't about competing who's got the best like / dislike ratio.
It's about taking away peoples opinions about companys, products, or politics
It's would be more like if the election din't show how many peoples voted for the losing party but the vote themselves would still be in the system.
But even then the analogy don't make sense , youtube dislike are not votes.

The dislikes aren't fatal to YouTube in and of itself. It's more like kicking a bullet-riddled body.
now if one of your video attact too much kids you lose your whole comment sections for that video and also targeted ads if your video is monitised even if the person watching is an adult.
I wonder if the next edition of Mirriam-Webster will add that one.
