For a gaming chair the problem is that if you buy the fake leather types they will be destroyed within the year. So never go for fake leather.
The other problem is that they might cheap out on comfort levels. It'll feel good in the start but quickly start to decline. Even if you spend around $300.
Aim for fabric type and not fake leather.
As for Office chairs. Well the good ones are often much more than $300 even if they don't look as good.
The ones my work use where around $900 I believe when they bought them 10+ years ago.
One thing you can do is ask around where you live if work places are getting rid of their furniture because they are changing to new ones. They are most likely willing to give it away for free. I know my company have done that with old stuff. It's either donated or thrown to the garbage lot.
not all gaming chairs are destroyed within a year with fake leather... my secret lab titans... are still fine after 4 yeafrs of use...
-
but those were 400 euro chairs... I have 2 of them.. so I can let 1 rest and use the other... I have covers over them so I never touch the fake leather... and every month I apply a care fluid to them to keep them nice...

very satisfied about them.
-earlier I bought 150 euro office or gaming chairs from ikea.. they always had their fake leather destroyed within a year... much crappier....
totally worth it to go for better quality.. and for my back these chars are much better too..
nah my gaming chair is mostly for lumbar support... I have no more backpain since I have my secretlab chair...
If I went for style I would have gone for something like :

but those are much worse for your back..
An independently-turning lumbar pad is nice, but can be substituted with an insert lumbar cushion.
Everything else, like the "racer style" high back with neon trim and cupholders and leg rests and stuff is completely extraneous.
