Gaming chair vs Office chair

Hi all. I am thinking of investing in a decent chair since I spend hours daily studying/gaming.

My budget is 300 USD.

So which one of the two types would you recommend (if you have tried both ofc) and any brand name in particular maybe?

The most important aspect is the arm rests. They should be able to raise, lower, rotate and slide forward and back. After that, the wrist cushioning for the keyboard and mousepad is the most important thing to consider.

An independently-turning lumbar pad is nice, but can be substituted with an insert lumbar cushion.

a cushion in yourback is no comparasing to the ajustable metal lumbar bar inside my secretlabs chair.. it made all the difference..

having a chair that is high enough was inportant too at 1.90m and many chairs made for 1.80m max that causes headache.. good wristrest is important too.. but armrests I not use that often..

office chair, more specifically an "executive chair"

gaming chairs are over priced and not that comfy, they use the word gaming and use bright colours and logos to be more appealing visually but thats what you pay for, you pay for the word gaming not comfort and durability.

I bought an office chair years ago, the gas strut in it was rated for 120Kg. I weighed 110Kg at the time and thought the chair would be suitable. Lasted just over a year before the strut lost its seals.
Now my gaming chair (Aerocool brand) is rated for 180Kgs but now I weigh half that so the chair is lasting me for years. Fabric has lasted well too.

I know but the thing is even if I sit on a chair I would do that for like what? Minutes? And we tend to sit for hours lol

it would really depend on your comfort level, and needs
some gaming chairs can recline and have more adjustable height, arms and variable back positions

but some office chairs are equally comfortable

shop around and test them out
microcenter has several gaming chairs on display to sit in and try out
office max/depot always have nice office chair selection on display, several have more adjustable arms/foot rests and back recline positions

$300 can get a good quality chair, do your own shopping and figure out what would work best for you

fwiw, 'gaming' is often term used to inflate the price since it will attract gamers who often have more money to spend on a equipment/hardware
ex. is a 'gaming' desk any different than a nice office desk

Currently using a pretty good gaming chair. Specified on my profile. Its cost was around 130 EUR i think. That was a sale price BTW. I'm satisfied after around 1 month's use.

"Gaming" chairs are a meme much like G-Fuel or "Gamer" glasses.
It's just another bells & whistles product with Gaming slapped on it. Just get any good ergonomic chair and save your money from wasting it on dumb brand products.
