Why does anime have such perverse distortions of women?

Does anybody else think something is very wrong with this stuff? i'm not judging anyone here but what is the point of these depictions? it seems very odd. thoughts anyone?

I don't just mean how they're drawn. It's also how they're framed and the context they're put in. Like, you might have a scene in anime with a highschool girl and she's being creeped on by an adult, and somehow the camera is up her skirt. Or a scene with a girl and she's doing something sexual but is "unaware" of it, and the framing makes it as sexually pleasing for the viewer as possible.

Two situations like that are IMPLIED in the anime "Scum's with" and "Sweet Blue Flowers". The perpetrator in the first one gets photographed and is "persuaded" to back off and the perpetrator in the latter gets his foot stomped. There's no upskirt shot in either. I wonder what kind of shows YOU are referring to. Scenes you described are reserved for hentai anime. They don't occur in anime aimed at teenagers. And for my stance on hentai, see one of the previous comments.

It happens in hentai anime... so, anime?
I never said it had to appeal to teens to be bad, either.

I also tend to be one of those people who will openly hate on anime/manga, but it comes from a place of love. I generally make fun of things I enjoy, so take that as you will.

Anime has distortions of everyone. That's kind of part of the charm of it. You take the appealing and/or interesting parts of humanity, crank it all way, way up to 11, and you have anime.

Also it's fantasy. IE; It's not real. It's not normalizing anything, because nothing about anime is normal. This is the reason I'm able to play a violent shooter game one day, then not go on a murderous rampage the next.

When I turn off the game/close the book/take off the VR headset/stop watching the anime, that's it. The unrealistic fantasy of those fantasy worlds and experiences stay entirely within the realm of fantasy.
