Why does anime have such perverse distortions of women?
Does anybody else think something is very wrong with this stuff? i'm not judging anyone here but what is the point of these depictions? it seems very odd. thoughts anyone?

There's nothing perverse in them. There is nothing wrong or perverse with sexually attractive body proportions. People throw around that word too much anyway.

It is what it is and I don't question it.

You've been brainwashed by women

OP might be talking about the oversexualization of female characters in anime rather than say... 12yr olds with boobs bigger than their head.

Depending on the genre it's very common.
Random pantyshot because guys like that. Random cleavage shot because guys like that. Random yuri, etc, etc. Most of these things don't add anything to the character or plot, it's just fan service.

Any anime worth it's salt wont do this because it detracts from the story, adds nothing and can damage the viewers perception of the character.

I mean, Attack on Titan would be a very different anime if all the females were dressed in some lewd gear and pushing their asses in the faces of all the guys.

Also, oversexualization happens everywhere, not just anime.

Sex appeal has been a selling point ever since visual advertising became a thing. Commercials, music videos, movies... you name it. So my question (to anybody reading) would be: why is it that people turn a blind eye to it unless it's anime?

Maybe. Kusanagi Motoko is a very sexually alluring character often seen wearing skin-tight outfits and generally appearing "sexualized" but that doesn't diminish the value of "Ghost in the Shell" in any way. It gets its messages across, with or without the sex appeal of Major Kusanagi.

That's a textbook example of double standard which is barely ever mentioned. Nobody has ever criticized the perfectly shaped males in anime.

Well, I only pay attention to big scale battles of mechanical and/or extraterrestrial adversaries. I doubt I can care less about the fanservice as I do now.

No. I mean they are as exaggerated as the women. Not perfect.

The exaggerations happen mostly in two male character types: "baras" (burly characters with exaggerated muscles) and "shotas" (exaggeratedly boyish, cute male characters). And they're designed for the same purpose as the exaggerated female characters. To appeal to parts of the female anime fan demographic. There is not one perfect body type, only perfect body TYPES.

But not a single person complains when almost every dude is fit and the overweight guys are used as joke fodders or bad guys

And that isn't just anime

Very true, maybe I spoke too hastily, but isn't she meant to be like a honeypot? And her gear needs to be skin-tight for reasons, kinda like the plug suits from Evangelion. I think there are legit reasons why she wears things like that other than it looks hot. And I don't really think Kusanagi is oversexialized. She has legit reasons to be wearing the things she does rather than simply for fan service.

Also, sexually alluring is a little different than simply showing some girl in skimpy clothes. I've seen very sexy male and female characters in anime that aren't sexualized.

What I think you are referring to is the anime that is targeted at young boys, which caters to the popular taste in the Far East. Yes, it's very distorted, but all you have to do is select an anime that's targeted at a different audience and you get different animation styles. Anime is a general term that covers many different animation styles and story types. It's not all for little boys and it is broadly classed by it's target audience. The odd thing is that most people in the West have only heard of so called "Shonen" which is the type you are talking about. There is plenty of other stuff though, you just need to look for it.
A lot of Japanese youth is suffering a bit of a crisis in relationships at the moment and I think that is reflected in the images of Shonen. It goes further than image, too, in that the demure personality the young males seem to prefer is just not the way most girls want to be in Japan in the 21st century.

Anime is a jooish and imperial japanies joint conspiracy made to weaken the goy, do not fall for their trickery brother

Since English isn't my native language, I would like to ask whether you're using the term "sexualized" in the context of: giving sex appeal to characters who naturally haven't developed it yet? The term is thrown around so loosely, it's not always easy to figure out what people want to say when they use that word.
