Sony better be putting their games on PC now.
Xbox basically dominates the market with the recent purchase. Unless Sony gets rid of the idea of console exclusive they're going to fail.

Bloodeborne, Demon's Souls remake, Spiderman and so on need to be made for PC now. Microsoft ensured that there is almost no reason to get a ps5.

Sony literally lost 20 billion from the recent purchase. Xbox game pass has over 25 million subscribers confirmed. I think the last report is that Microsoft made 300m a month from game pass alone.

Can't call Xbox irrelevant. See more interest in Microsoft and Nintendo rather than Sony. Unlike Sony the other two are actually releasing games.

ok but sony stills sells more than triple the amount of consoles as xbox, meanwhile nintendo sells more than double of xbox. microsoft stills suffers heavily from selling the least amount of consoles compared to nintendo and sony. sony and nintendo are powerful enough to do their own thing, whereas xbox has to jump through a lot of hoops just to be able to stay competitive at all

Recent reports show PS 5 at 15 million and Series S/X at 10 million. This deal will likely put Xbox ahead by October.

I doubt the $300m is net profit. 3rd party publishers must be charging huge sums to be on Gamepass.

Oh for sure, but remember who owns Xbox. Microsoft has far more money than Sony and can throw away a lot of it. I would say it's more Microsoft core finances paying for these companies and deals on game pass than the revenue from game pass itself.

Tencent > Sony > Microsoft, in that Order.

MS buying some IP's doesn't make them dominate the market. it's like comparing AMD with Intel...there are worlds between their market share. all MS wants is more range and user accounts/data for their future plans with cloud gaming and game pass. with the ongoing cost for PC gaming hardware the consoles sill going strong and there is really no reason for Sony to break a sweat at this point. they still own the best first party studios in the industry and MS just bought some trash but popular trash of course. CoD always sells, no matter what right?
You're forgetting that they just became a major mobile player with this acquisition as well.

I bet many will drop gamepass as the pricing continues to rise and not all the games they want to play are on it. Seems like MS would just be better off going for Series S/X sales since digital game sales are so profitable. Sony has almost double the gaming revenue because PS 4 sold about twice as well as the Xbox One.

not every pc uses windows os and microsoft is allowing pc users to play their games in the first place with game pass because they are desperately trying to stay competitive with nintendo and sony (since they sell so little consoles compared to the competition), otherwise yes their consoles will become obsolete like sega

Oh Microsoft was going to shut down xbox after the Xbox one disaster. Had it not been for Phil Spencer it would of been gone. Thanks to Phil Xbox is now relevant again after a lot of work that they needed to do.

No need to keep bringing up Nintendo btw. Either their console fails or succeeds they keep doing their own thing. Pokemon IP alone makes more money than Sony and Microsoft.

If I'm reading this right, the two sources you linked are comparing Microsoft vs PlayStation, not Xbox vs PlayStation. Xbox made 13.3 billion vs PlayStation with 25billion according to those two sources you linked.

edit: I'm talking about PlayStation/Sony gaming division vs Microsoft gaming division which includes Xbox, PC, Game Pass and xCloud.

In terms of revenue, PlayStation generates more revenue. Microsoft even confirms this by saying with the ActivisionBlizzard acquisition, Microsoft will jump up to third place in terms of revenue, PlayStation being second and Tencent being first.

Microsoft ended with about 10 million Xbox series sold while Playstation sold about 15 million ps5's. Gotta remember than Game Pass, the thing KEEPING Xbox relevant, is on PC as well. Adding in a now bigger PC market with Activision-Blixzard being bought out will make that revenue MUCH higher. Adding 20 billion more to Xbox and roughly taking about 10-20 Billion from Playstation its pretty obvious who's ahead now. Hence why I'm putting down the statement Sony needs to put their games on PC if they want to stay relevant.

Same stuff happened during PS3 and Xbox360. Xbox was beating Playstation for most of that generation. Sony ended up getting more ps3's sold by the end of that generation BECAUSE they started releasing a lot of games while Xbox stagnated. It's the reason why ps3 didn't really sell at the beginning.

PS 3 launched a year later and at a much higher price.

We haven't seen the affects of this and the Bethesda acquisition yet. Wait until E3 when Starfield has more trailers.
Here's a crazy thought. MS discontinues making hardware after making deal with Sony to put gamepass on playstation together with the rights to publish its games on playstation.

MS and Sony have worked together before (MSX) and still work together on many fronts (Sony uses Azure for example, Windows on their laptops) so why not share the pie. Call it the XStation for gen 10.

The hardware is practically the same in these consoles nowadays anyway. What's the point in having separate ones.

Price rising? I haven't paid extra for my game pass since it came out. That's downright fearmongering.

They tried once and immediately took ot back because of massive backlash. They learned their lesson on not rising it. Let's not spread misinformation on this shall we? People aren't dropping it and it's now at 25 million subscribers with a steady increase every month.

Edit: in case you mean that 1$ deal it was meant only for the first month. It's always been an extra 10$ since I first subscribed to it past the first month.

Well Sony doesnt have the money Microsoft has. If Sony buys one then Microsoft buys ten. Can't compete in that area.

And with a severe lack of games. Ps3 hardware was super bad to the point of melting its own chips. Can't blame a year difference for the xbox360 besting ps3 for most of that generation. As I said before it was when xbox started stagnating on games towards the end that gave ps3 the upper hand as they kept releasing new games.

maybe, i just feel like this might make things worse, not better, but time will tell
The ;ast thing Sony needs is to abandon its exclusives, especially right now. Don't get me wrong, they are right to release 2+ years old exclusives on Steam but if they release their exclusives day 1 on PC theres no incentive to buy a Sony console anymore and the incentive SI the few Sony exclusives they release each year.
