Can you use a PS3 like it's a PC case?
A PS3 costs like 50 bucks or something and it can handle 2014 AAA games. So if I were able to use a computer that's powered by a PS3 that would be really good. If I can't do that, am I at least able to "dissect" its pieces and place them in a computer?

I think throwing the hardware in a PC case is different than using the PS3's hardware to run PC applications, though.

It's totally different and it sounds like people are getting mixed up with what it sounds like the OP is asking.

There is no way to dissect a PS3 and use its parts to power a PC (except for the HDD which is standard) without a ton of custom work. I'm sure someone could manage to finagle it and get it to work, but its definitely not gonna be something for 99% of the population to ever try.

No and no. You just use a PS3 like a PS3.

You'd MAYBE have some luck with a ps4 case but with a ps3 case you might have to rewire alot of things

Only if you use your computer as a door stop.
well the every PS3 model is small, including the phat version. so dont even bother putting a modern GPU inside of it.

I gutted my original Xbox and droped everything into a mini tower. :lunar2019coolpig:

A lot longer to build though.

I meant the other way around. I want PS3 parts inside a computer.

Then, of course you can.

If you mean to take the PS3 components and use them to build a PC then the answer is no if you have to ask.

They do not use standard parts or off the shelf components and you can't just plug and play and use them in a PC.

About the only part that you could use which is standard would be the hard drive.

You can. It's been done. I did it with my old Xbox. And check hotsauce's link...

Hotsauce's link was for having a functioning PS3 INSIDE a PC case. They aren't using PS3 Components to play steam games for instance.

This is not about changing the case. It's about building a PC and running PC games using PS3 parts. Hence why I clarified my response because this question

So if I were able to use a computer that's powered by a PS3 that would be really good.

Does not say to me that he is looking to run a PS3 inside a PC case, it sounds like he wants to buy a cheap PS3 and try to build a PC out of it to run PC games instead of buying PC parts.
