I don't know how I managed to miss "Idiocracy"...apparently, I'm an idiot?

Someone posted a couple of links earlier (in a thread that got deleted quickly), and I felt compelled to go and watch that movie.

Wow, Brawndo really does have what plants crave?

Have you people seen this movie? Does it not frighten you to see how closely the world (and this forum in particular) mirror that dystopian world?

I'd like to thank that user for posting those links, but I'm pretty sure you morons marvelous intellectuals would give him a starring role in "Monday Night Rehabilitation".

That movie just made my all-time, top ten list.

The movie itself is dark satire comedy...

Dark satire has a strong purpose and meaning behind. Most people just might not understand or face it. However, one thing you NEED to understand: It's mocking the stupidity of actions/behaviours, rather than the individual themselves. It's not actually hating on the person, but rather attempting to force them into facing the issue, addressing it, and figuring out better solutions.

South Park does this too, etc. So some people take offend, but others see it and love it due to that fact there's a purpose for it.

Well, I found Majestic Turkey's repeated spamming of that crap to be annoying, so I did a search. That's where I found a critique of Edward Dutton, that identifies him as a white supremacist, who tries to pass his hate off as pseudo-intellectualism.

I find that useful and informative. Much more so than the thinly veiled arguments that are being spammed into this thread.

I have no idea what Majestic Turkey is. I just know there were some weird evangelicals for a crappy Harry Potter fanfic that called themselves "rationalists" and it seemed to be a mix of Ayn rand libertarianism with an added sense of superiority because "science".

I think that is an excellent recommendation. Interestingly enough, it touches upon "anti-intellectualism", "fascism", and "free speech".

Also, if you want to be taken seriously, try to resist the temptation to quote yourself.

None were put forward.

The old skeptic saying applies, "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence", the onus is on the creationist to prove their case, not the other way around.

If you have a problem with the RationalWiki article I linked, then address those points directly. I thought it was rather interesting in how it pointed out how this Edward Dutton loser is fond of appearing on various white supremacist programs, because they are so eager to give him a platform...kind of exactly like you.
