Because yeah, filling out federal paperwork is madness. My last go around PERSONALLY, I was filed as being of low intelligence.
Like, how is someone supposed to even respond to something like that?
If you seriously want to chat, I dug a clip on mic out of storage today, while I don't really want to type out a manifesto, I'd be willing to chat.
But you speaking up does make a difference ... so keep talking ... ;)
That's honestly just how it operates.
Just to be honest ... you're having more of an impact talking OUT LOUD instead of just talking to me in private ... keep talking ;).
My dad has been dead since 1997, but he is still providing, through a teamster pension, to the extent of $350 a month.
Which isn't much in Southern California, I'll tell you. My mom also draws Social Security because of a spinal injury. They replaced a good portion of her spine with cadaver bone and metal.
I joke that she got blinged up like the borg queen. Most of the time she's fine, sometimes she requires someone else to make financial decisions. Or fill out paperwork.
So I handle it. As a good son should. But some of the paperwork drives me mad. For instance, she is eligible for food stamps, to the tune of $15 a month.
Why in the frak would they even list her eligible. Can YOU eat off $15 a month?
Idiocracy at least presents a KIND future. Yeah, their buildings are falling over, and their crops are dying out.
But SOMEONE tried to provide. Their clothing is literally printed out on demand. I imagine it's recyclable fabric, since laundry is never mentioned.
So at some point, some sponsor, or conglomerate of sponsors, decided "Hey, Our fans deserve to not be BUCK ASS NAKED. So lets put clothes printers in every home."
Frito is of sub-GED intelligence. But he holds the occupation of DEFENSE COUNCIL. That's, both terrifying and Heartwarming. Jobs are available, for those willing to work. Even if they're morons.
My mom always wants to move, but she's in literally, the ONLY PLACE in southern California she can afford.
She said to me today that I live in fear. And that's valid. I do live in fear. Like that movie Network said.
I don't want a fancy yacht, I don't want a Bugatti. I ride a bus to my doctors appointments, and even there I'm feeling the squeeze. Rates went up a dollar, to no appreciative benefit, they just want more.
And once again, like network says, I don't want anything special, I just want to be left alone! None of this crazy burning world we live in. Let me enjoy my video games, maybe some beers on Friday, maybe some unhealthy food every once in a while.
I don't think that's asking too much!

In all seriousness, your mom sounds like one kick-ass lady. That's a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for one person to swallow in a lifetime, I'm sorry to hear about it. Good for you, for being the inept, bungling son, trying to do right by his mom. Every ♥♥♥♥♥♥-up sick person would be lucky to have someone like you in their life...I know, I am one and I happen to be in need of an advocate.
When I fill out my own government forms, I tear them a new arsehole over grammatical errors, logical fallacies, etc. I write my comments in the margins, and wherever else they were foolish enough to leave blank space...then they stop sending me forms!
I get phone-calls now...lol
All I can say is keep up the good work! Of course, I feel a bit like someone in 2505, trying to figure out what your comment means... in the spirit of the film, I figured just making noises with my mouth, seemed rather appropriate:)

This was because when he was a field accountant, he got sent all over the state, and his one constant was Carl's Jr.
We got him a whole spread of everything he wanted, since we figured "This is the end".
It was crap. None of us enjoyed the food, the magic was gone.
Since then, those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ get none of my money. They crossed my Grandpa when he was dying.
He survived that time, but they gave him six months. He did eight. Stubborn man.
So the "♥♥♥♥ you, I'm eating" thing took on a new view.
Crap, I'm still mad now.
We got all the food at the same restaurant Grandpa and I went to in high school. Even more messed up, the hospice was across the street from the high school.
Nuthin' a little Brawndo can't fix! Sounds like you could use a "Starbucks" latte?
