I really dont like CRT TVs, lotta reasons theyre bad, like giving you headaches and stuff, but the static electrcity was cool.
OP: the CRT was fun but too damn heavy!
Though I still like CRT's. I'm hoping to find a Sony PVM in an e-dumpster. You'd be surprised with what people throw away.
I had a 22" CRT monitor that could handle 1600x1200 resolution 20 years ago. Weighed about 70 lbs, was nearly 2 feet front to back depth.
Everything about it was great except the bulk, for the time, It would still hold up today except for the aspect ratio....and my eyes.
All I can remember from this monster tv was that I was the remote control unless my mother had the brush handle near by.
The trick was to set any CRT monitors refresh rate to higher than 75hz + to make the screen flicker less.
Don't miss that old high pitched whine though. You can walk in the room until the TV was on without even having to see it.
