SystemRequirementsLab... Shady?
I have seen the discussion boards about System Requirements Lab being safe but unreliable. I used it and it downloaded a program called "detection" I get to run the report it needs to actually know what's on my computer so it would need to run a scan but now I can't find it in my App & Features in settings to uninstall.

Am I looking in the wrong place? That screams shady to me that I can't easily uninstall a program.

Does the program simply run without installing?

It downloaded something that went into the ApplicationSetUp file I have for program installs and it was listed in the details view as "application" so I assumed it installed but there was no "allow changes to blah blah" pop up that usually happens with installed programs.

Can I delete the Detection applet after it scans my computer?
Yes. To delete the Detection applet, search your computer for 'Detection.exe'. Once you find it, just delete that file.

OK, That is what I did but I was not confident that actually removed the whole app. Thank you! That makes me feel a lot better :steamhappy:

Yea it's a self contained app (portable) it don't put any other files on your pc except the exe file.
Run it through sandbox environment as VMware, or simple the program container as sandboxie ,when it comes down to security. When it comes to privacy they make profit by selling the data. If you are ok with it that's fine, otherwise skip it. As long as you keep in mind that security and privacy are two different things you will be ok.

Yea but running that in vmware will use the vmware allotted hardware. So it won't give you an accurate results since vmware only uses very little of your ram and cpu and it don't even use your video card graphics wise.

I said use sandboxie as non system emulator keeping programs contained while using your actual platform, for VM was more a generic type of advice.

Windows Sandbox is a feature that comes free with later versions of Windows 10 and with Windows 11, Professional or higher editions. It does require the Hyper-V hypervisor be enabled however, which might depending on CPU affect performance a bit.

Indeed, just in case @OP could also use BCUnistaller:

As an extra measure.

I have used this quite a bit in the past. While I know nothing of them today and haven't looked at anything they're doing at this moment, I've never once had any issues with them.

At this moment, Virustotal dose not detect nor have any alerts been issued for Systemrequiremenntslab. (Checking the home page plus a few software pages)

That doesn't mean the installer/file is clean, but none of the top AV sites have warnings for the site at this moment.

Above, one can run checks on specific urls as well as upload suspect files using the File menu.
