Looks like 70 euro. More if it causes an accident.

It's not so much the gas issue, the thread is misleading. It's for any stopping on the road for "no good reason", running out of gas being one of them.

Its 30 bucks. 70 bucks if do it multiple times.
Happened to me 2x times. One time in Munich when we drove to the Oktoberfest and one time on the border to Roermond (Netherlands).

Police is pretty relaxed though.

Why the heck would you get on what is essentially a race track with no fuel?

You are getting fined for being an Irresponsible driver and an unnecessary hazard. If an act of god gives you a flat or pop a gasket, that wouldn't get you in trouble, I would imagine, especially if you can deploy the proper roadside safety gear.

But gas. You deserve a fine. If I can drive for nearly 30 years and not run out of gas, anyone can.

Well, not always. The vast majority of the time, sure, but I've been on some highways where you go "yeah I've got a quarter of a tank" and drive past an exit, then by the time you get to the next exit, you're sweating, lol.

That's my point. There are enough gas/petrol stations scattered throughout humanity that argument gets quashed immediately by planning ahead.

We have a rule never to go below a 1/4 tank for this reason plus I think I subscribed to the condensation myth thing back in the day, although I think peope still support that.

Nothing beats refuelling your car on the side stripe from the highway. Especially when trucks pass you.

How can someone run out of fuel is the question? There is more than enough reserve when the indicator warns you. IMO in this case fines are a slap on the wrist.
