metroid dread is awful
everyone is kissing this games ass, oh great game and awesome bosses. huh? am i playing a different game? because this game is too much dark souls, same for samus returns, fusion, prime 2 and 3.

enemies and bosses do a whopping 300 damage

some taking up the whole room

unavoidable attacks

stupid QTE's that EVERYONE HATES
this is required to move on and kill bosses... NO

Bosses with many stages and damage sponge

too much nonsense speed boost puzzles that should never be a thing
getting 100% should NEVER be a chore

the ending rewards, a post card i assume is nuts too, beat it under X hours and on hard?
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ NO
not worth it

no one plays games to get good, nor for a stupid high challenge in this game and in the prime series

i would love to just get 100% with no BS and just beat the game without too much trouble. but no, that will never happen

I didn’t know that games journalists posted on the Steam forums.

tl;dr everything about it sucks in every way

Big surprise. There's even a comparison to Dark Souls. It's like you copy/pasted every review ever and changed the title.

Awful lot of review for a game op doesn't own. But look who it is! So not really surprising.

Half of the things described here kinda describe almost every metroid game.

...maybe you just hate the series, but really liked a game or two?
What you are saying is you want to be able to 100% it without actually putting in any effort.
That really isn't a negative point of the game, it is just you being lazy and expecting everyone elses experience to be worse just so you can feel good about completing it in a very simple and far too easy way.
There's other games out there that would suit you, I don't think Metroid does; it does not sound like you enjoy it so why bother? Play something easier.

It kinda just sounds like you're frustrated you can't 100% a game in a series that's always been at least a bit challenging. Maybe it's just not for you? I've personally only played Metroid Prime: Hunters and none of the other games in the series really interest me, but from what I've heard from people who do like the other Metroids, the newest one is a bit too linear compared to past titles and one of my friends was upset about destroying the ambiguous fate of the Chozo and giving a definite answer on what happened to them, but I haven't heard anything outright bad from people used to the 2D games, just they go back and forth over just how good Dread is.

I can name so many games where 100%ing them is an absolute chore, even games I love (have fun getting all of the 1/128 items in Earthbound or collecting all of Mario Sunshine's blue coins) because most games aren't made with the expectation you'll complete every square inch, that's why there's so few completionists compared to more casual players and it's why Jirard Khalil was able to make a career out of beating the entirety of gigantic, open-world titles and discussing the ordeal online.

I haven't picked it up yet. Will probably get it when I'm bored with what I'm currently playing.

I swear I once saw an article describing the game Banished as "the Dark Souls of city builders."
TBF, most game journos. . . . are. . um, I'm trying to come up with a polite way of saying that they. . . . aren't very good at video games.

...

I thought you might have a point I'd actually agree with here for a minute but if it's like Metroid Fusion, then it's gotta be good.

:seewhatyoudid:
Game journalists are supposed to be journalists first...

Which is really at odds with the fact that the only thing they are worse at than games is journalism.

:conwayshrug:

And SimCity on the SNES is clearly the Dark Souls of city-builders. You ever seen Bowser eat your city? So hardcore!
