Gift card scam

I bought 3 giftcards yesterday which had steam money in the form of $50 each, and when I went to redeem the codes they had already been used. What do I do now? Steam notes they dont do refunds in order not to muddle their economy, but this was just money card, not a game card.

Steam doesn't rip you off. Where did you buy these gift cards from?

Never use anything other the Steam's own game cards.... someone else scammed you... don't blame Steam, go back to who you got them from.....

I bought them at walgreens from the giftcard rack. Should I go back there for the refund?

You must contact the retailer you purchased from, yes.

Were the codes already scratched off? Go back to Walgreens with your receipt and make sure that the cards were activated. Those cards don't do anything until activated at the register.

Ofc I have the receipt. The silver strips even in tact. I went online to google for help and apparently scammers can scratch off the strips and replace them with ones you can buy easily online.

The cards were already redeemed. That is not relevant to this.

Only people that could swap them is the person at the checkout who activates them or someone afterwards.

That isn't possible. The card does NOT work until they scan it at the register. They activate it... tHis is to prevent people from stealing them.
