Yes it's great for chats both voice and text and very easy to set up and use.

That's like asking if crap tastes good.
If you don't like it, Curse is a good alternative.
Why is their logo mickey mouse underpants?
Yes, it’s free and best alternative. Flexible with customisations of servers options and good enough to keep your anonymity safe.
It's good for voice chat and screensharing.

But IRC is better at text chat.

For text chat, it's customizations that are severely lacking, and anonymity is more difficult to achieve, compared to IRC.

On IRC, you can literally use any IRC client program (many of which are free/open-source, and have a huge variety more customizations) to chat, because IRC is an open standard. On Discord, you have to use the Discord app (which is basically a browser) or the Discord site in a browser.

(Heck, one reason Discord's light mode sucks is because the text isn't even really black text, but just some sort of grey. If it were actual black text, it'd look a lot more readable.)

Furthermore, unless you run multiple browsers/sessions/machines for Discord, you only have one account to which all your server memberships are attached. On IRC, all your connections to different networks are separate.

It reminds me of the very worst of 1990's clan GAMING. I was never in the pointy hat club! People begging you to join their server, merge others, or drop.

Also reminds me of TeamSpeak, it always annoyed the s--t out of me when fleet leaders would beg to subsidize their server. It was like "Dude, you made this server a requirement for participation, that leaves the burden on you."
i got an invite from one of my friends to a discord server and almost immediately i got my name changed to ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up names and messages from these aggressive kids cussing me out and this does tend to happen a lot, i got these rude messages from my favourite screenshot from arma 3 and they didnt seem to like it, so i left the chat unfriended the person that told me to join and uninstalled discord. Things like this do happen a lot on discord servers so i would not recommend discord to anyone.
Personally, I've used it for about 2-3 years now, and I think it's pretty good. I like the voice communication it has, too. It's the main thing I use to chat with friends.

I have heard something about it being spyware, but I dunno if that's true or not so I wont go over it.
Yes :47_thumb_up:

Better than TS and Ventrilo.
It's a data miner. Why do you think it's free?

Messaggio originale di GamingCucumber:
Then why is everyone using it??

Everyone also uses Google products.
Good? Well if your definition of good is spyware funded by the venture capital firm of the Central Intelligence Agency "In-Q-Tel" and ran by a bunch of Furries then of course the answer is YES!
It's good for chatting, whether it's text, voice or video.

Not good for privacy, so screw that jazz.
discord's great.
I get to talk to everyone I know all summer.
Privacy speaking? If noone knows you use it and you aren't on any groups than you should be good.
Did discord have a controversy about them not banning furry child pr0n because half of the discord moderator team were also furry's who enjoyed that stuff.
