is my gas mask filter all good?

so I accidentally opened my ABEC filter (it's one with a cap and tape over it) when taking it out of a sachel, and the lid just lifted off but I quickly put it back on the second it happened, and I now tapped it back up like mad



is the filter gonna be useless for the purposes it's for? or am I still all good and no need to panic??

cuz uh, im worried that i screwd this filter up by accidently opening it for half a second

What is the filter rated for?
Generally it'll be fine for particulate matter, but I wouldn't trust it for something that might kill me.

It is fine. We carried 2 without covers on them in our pouches, used them with no issues during both BZ, (possible Soman) and general oil fire/trash fires.

its an ABEK filter, the big ones with many strips of color on them, i just accidently had the cap slip open for a half a sec, i now taped it up like mad and zip locked it at double

but i need this filter to stay all good and fresh for atleast a few more years, until i really need it and idk if i screwd it up, its not event expired its shelf live yet! (2025)

The specific colours are kind of important though. If you are handling mercury vapor (Hg rating) for example, I wouldn't trust the thing. But if it AX/A/B rating it will probably be fine.
