Men are naturally more rowdy and forced to compete against other males for the woman, and are also imposed to impress the opposite sex any way they can.
Women don't have the need to impress men as they are already simps naturally attached to women.
So of course men are going to be funnier on average, women don't have to compete other than to look more beautiful than the other.

Rivers was bloody brilliant. She would have been the ruling queen of late night... But you didn't cross Johnny, and she definitely did that. Man, I love Carson. I just watched a Joan Rivers hosted episode a week or two ago.

Still, for current acts, I'd say Jeanne Robertson is my favorite. She really knows how to tell a good story and somehow tie it all into one big punchline. That is my main criterion for a good routine. Richard Pryor comes to mind, who knew how to do that, exceedingly well.
