Assuming that you have one.

So you see Marxism as a less clear thing than Karl Marx...interesting position.

Marx wasn't even the only one involved in developing the Marxist thought. Everyone keeps forgetting about Engels.
Guesde was the inspiration for a famous quotation by Karl Marx. Shortly before Marx died in 1883, he wrote a letter to Guesde and Paul Lafargue, both of whom already claimed to represent "Marxist" principles. Marx accused them of "revolutionary phrase-mongering".[2] This exchange is the source of Marx's remark, reported by Friedrich Engels: "ce qu'il y a de certain c'est que moi, je ne suis pas marxiste" ("what is certain is that [if they are Marxists], [then] I myself am not a Marxist").
(In quotes because not my writing).

That wasn't what I was talking about. I'm not saying Nietzsche wasn't real, I mentioned it because posting that your fav philosopher is Nietzsche and having never met Nietzsche, means the thread would be better served by the question "What is favorite philosophy." It would just be less confusing for people.
No discussion is better served by reductionism. This is like coming into a "what's your favorite movie?" discussion and arguing it would be better to state our favorite genres instead.

Actually, my point is not about reductionism but rather about 'clarification.' Your analogy doesn't really hew to my point either. A better analogy would be: The topic is "What is your favorite director?" and people start posting Spielberg or Almodovar without having met either person. In that regards, I would say that the thread would be better served by changing the question to: "What is your favorite movie?" or more precisely "What is your favorite oeuvre of cinema?"

Marxism is a different story; Marx himself disagreed with Marxism. Marxism and Communism are not the same.
It's interesting to note that no one claimed that Karl Marx was their favorite philosopher, even though he was probably one of the most influential philosophers of modern times. This is probably because people only know about him though memes.

Nietzsche and Kierkegaard are both existentialists, but other than rejecting the notion of objective value they don't agree on much. Kirkegaard tried to arrive at Christian virtues starting with nothing but reason, Nietzsche completely deconstructed Christianity and rejected reason as the primary motive of human action.

Which philosophers have influenced somebody conveys much more information than naming the school of thought to which he nominally ascribes.

That might be true, but my point is that asking "What is your favorite philosopher?" means you're asking about the philosopher or person themself and not their work or 'philosophy.' In your response, you are actually suggesting that the original thread question be posed as: "What philosophy most influences you?" which is not at all what I was addressing.

It doesn't matter, but I thought it was an interesting point to make given that many people on this thread chose a long dead philosopher, whom they never met, as their favorite. I just thought it was amusing.

I wonder how much less amusing it would be if they chose a living philosopher whom they have also never met.
I chose Ben Folds. I have never met him. Not that he is a philosopher in the strict sense, although he does have a philosophy. Both literally and a song titled Philosophy.

Diogenes, the only philosopher to

- Invalidate another philosopher's answer to the query "Define a man in the simplest terms possible (Featherless biped)" by plucking out all of a chicken's feathers and parading it around yelling "BEHOLD A MAN"!

and

- Deny the hospitality of the emperor of almost the entire world at the time by telling him to get out of his sunlight despite living in a barrel in the marketplace
