But my original point was about differentiating between the 'philosopher' and the 'philosophy.' That is an important distinction that few people chose to take on this thread.
Mayhap someone's favourite philosopher is Nietzsche but their favourite philosophy isn't nihilism. They answer the question with "Niezstche".
I am treating Socrates as a real person and thus as a real philosopher. I don't see what's so hard to grasp about this.
And what makes you think that distinction was not being made?
Well, if you see it that way doesn't your question get confused with the question "Post the name of a philosopher." How do you know they are posting their favorite?
I wonder how much less amusing it would be if they chose a living philosopher whom they have also never met.
Do there exist any actual manuscripts of his work, in his hand?
