The west got a ton of stuff to deal with and fix a lot of old problems in the upcoming decades, for example Europe & United States need to solve their issues with Russia before 2050, Same goes between Russia & Turkey, among other west nations.
For all of the reasons above me. Why would the West want to teach chinese in schools? It has zero advantage to anyone, unless they want to order from slave/child labor factories for cheap products to sell in their country.
People tend to teach in their countries language because it's the primary language, the west doesn't need to speak more languages, that's why they are free to choose to learn such
It all depends in how they play their cards and if their leaders get a tad too greedy.
Edit: Their 2050 expected demographics issues, are due their absurdly effective 1 child policy. In certain regions of china there's more man than woman.
I on the other hand see the let's say not the 'need' for that but rather, a casual appeal.
I love languages people and basically cultures but think we shouldn't force nothing upon each other; once more: with all due respect.
(honk honk)
So I'm curious as to what country you're from and why you think this would ever be a good idea.
Far more countries speak English...so why don't the Chinese just learn English?
