Adopting Chinese/Kanji characters into English
So I've been thinking, what if we started using Chinese characters in English? There is a large amount of overlap between Kanji and Hanzi/Chinese. For example "車" means "car" in both Japanese and Traditional Chinese, so there is no reason why it couldn't mean that in English too.

China also has multiple spoken languages that can't understand each other, but if they write something down it is mutually intelligible. Japan already uses three (four if you count Romaji) writing systems together, so mixing different systems wouldn't be a problem either.

Start teaching kids Chinese characters in school and we could probably have people reading it in one or two generations in the west.

No thank you.. with our current state, I think English, French, German, Spanish, Russian and Arabic should be more than enough for the poor kids and teens.
No, I don't want this.
I'd stop reading.
Give how the geopolitical "climate" will look by 2050. No, thank you.

The west got a ton of stuff to deal with and fix a lot of old problems in the upcoming decades, for example Europe & United States need to solve their issues with Russia before 2050, Same goes between Russia & Turkey, among other west nations.

No. Definitely not.
Nope.
For all of the reasons above me. Why would the West want to teach chinese in schools? It has zero advantage to anyone, unless they want to order from slave/child labor factories for cheap products to sell in their country.

People tend to teach in their countries language because it's the primary language, the west doesn't need to speak more languages, that's why they are free to choose to learn such
We dont have enough present in west with chinese languish. So why would should we teach them same level of course as english?

It's inevitable I guess. Not in my lifetime I hope.
Eh not quite, given that China is having a water crisis, has a housing crisis & by 2050 will have the same low birth rate problems alongside aging population issues like Japan & South Korea got atm.

It all depends in how they play their cards and if their leaders get a tad too greedy.

Edit: Their 2050 expected demographics issues, are due their absurdly effective 1 child policy. In certain regions of china there's more man than woman.

What is this, an discussion created by China's foreign minister? No, of course not, what kind of question even is this?!
I like English but your language is equally as. but just slight tad more difficult than it at face value, therefore it's a big investment and not a lot of us are businessman or woman at that respect.

I on the other hand see the let's say not the 'need' for that but rather, a casual appeal.

I love languages people and basically cultures but think we shouldn't force nothing upon each other; once more: with all due respect.

If I was shilling for China I'd be using "车" instead of "車"

The thread comes across as that in general. Most people from the west/1st world countries do not want to have numerous languages as it's a huge mess, then you need to start paying more to print everything in multiple languages, then paying for translation services. Nope.

So I'm curious as to what country you're from and why you think this would ever be a good idea.
Well at least we know who the Chinese party member is. Gotta corrupt the West somehow, why not spout propaganda through Steam.

Far more countries speak English...so why don't the Chinese just learn English?
Oh hell to the NO.
