why do tv show reboots fail?
well if were talking about cartoon network then ite pretty easy to figure that out.
its ran by non other than mr krabs, i mean TTG and the power puff reboot

bad songs
bad jokes
crap and cheap animations
not the same characters
they killed them
bad plot and story telling

ben 10, thunder cats and more
thunder cats 2011 was decent, i stopped when it was ripping off marvel, everyone is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to lion-o and so is the brother who kicked him down the hole

i never liked the following shows but it is odd how the let go: chowder, gympartner is a monkey, imginary friends, camp lazlo, adventure time and regular show. all garbage and the new cn is made for morons, gone are the days of quality and quality control, CN sold its soul to the devil or mr krabs and all we get is crap. the new CN has no heart or soul

Lack of knowledge of the source material. That and the american animation business is dead since 2012. I think.

Expecting people to write good, original stories, when they didn't create an original IP. Bonus points if the ceos think too much of themselves to hire the original creators.

And even if they get back the creators, they can be so out of touch from years of not creating or working a different career.

Also a huge part is needing things now to be woke and unoffensive.

Because they're unimaginative money grabs and your average television viewer isn't quite as stupid as these production companies believe they are.

Unskilled writers with 0 passion or knowledge of what they're working on. Pushed by their bosses who just want money rather than quality.
I can think of one reboot that didn't fail and I got the Blu-ray boxset recently to do it all over again for the third time.

BSG reboot.

Why would anybody want a reboot of anything?
If I'm a fan I want the original, or if it aged badly in terms of how it looks at least an extremely faithful remake that makes it up to date but feel the same, not something that completely mess up the things I'm a fan of.

If I'm not a fan I am biased against it probably and it would be more difficult to appeal to me rather than with a new IP.
So I really don't understand this choices.

It's just a dumb thing to do that probably is going to make everybody unhappy.

I think everyone can think of one reboot that didn't fail and exceeded expections

And it worked because they got some of the best talent and a creative person to design the lore and art. Also fantastic music.

If a show has great music it at least has a chance, because youtube uploads.

Thunder Cats, Ben 10, Total Drama, Teen Titans

All of them failed because they turn all of these iconic cartoons into some dumbfest without anything in them. It's all fart jokes at best.

Agreed. The reboots nearly always suck.

One thing companies do to kill show's chances is copy strike youtube community videos and fanworks.

They tend to reboot successful properties. Which were that way due to a mix of casting, writers, proper age/culture at the time, and a ton of other things. Rebooting that is hoping lightning strike the same spot twice while banking on a semi-established audience to tune in and watch it happen.

What they should do is take failed properties that could've gone somewhere, and reboot those while taking into account the lessons learned from the first run.
Yeah I saw them go hardass on the Star Trek IP. Think they reduced all fan-fiction to 15 minute shorts now or something? Unless they back tracked on that?

total drama was sort of rebooted right?

I think producers have moved on in life and they have children, so they made a child friendly version. The problem is generation gap. :erune:

If their audience in mind are adults, it could have been a better reboot. For example the Joker movie. It's going deeper.

The cartoons you watch in 1990 isn't the original too. I think it all started in 1923. Cartoons are made for children anyway...
