What is worse, water or ice levels?
Say what you want about water levels but I always though ice levels in games are the worst ones. :piku:

Something really beautiful and bleak about ice levels. Water levels can be cool though, I liked Subnautica and No Man's Sky water levels. Water levels are probably worse due to the three axis movement.

Dead Space 2/3 have these anti-gravity levels that come across like water movement three axis and all that.

They are equally good. Deserts however.

Ice physics can be quite fun as long as you know how they work. Sliding on ice in Crash games is extremely satisfying because you go insanely fast and your jump launches you far.

Water levels are extremely slow, and I don't like them.

Most desert levels suck yeah, but Mad Max something about that game made the desert look hauntingly beautiful and kind of interesting to explore. Red Faction/G and FNV deserts are really trash.

Ice especially if you do car racing and the track is wet you definitely notice this. Water is just generally equally as bad but just one step under and

I thought furthermore that in Bioshock games they did wonderful special effects with the water, where there, water generally looked good.

Another example of really nice 'Water' or 'watery' atmosphere is Gemini Rue... where in the game in the externals portions of the game it always rains, due to.. well.. PLEASE: go play that game , if not for me :P because it's really oof. Dystopian.

An example of nice cold environment is or was for me in one of those Call of Duty Singleplayer game sections where we had to do missions in the ice (and snow), that was for some reason always very moody, well I remember even some 'ancient' or just old movies from the 90's....

Like this one submarine movie that was very moody like Hunting for Red OOoctober I believe with Sean Connery.

Depends on what kind of mobility the player has on or below water. If you're swimming usually they aren't that fun because swimming is slower than running, but if you have a jet ski...

Depends on how awful the ice physics are. That ice island in Wind Waker was awful, ideally it should be just slippery enough to change how you play but not so much you constantly jump to avoid the mechanic all together.

Cryostasis, Soma and Dino Crisis 2 had a slow ass clunky chunky diving suits. Going so slow gives you extra feeling of vulnerable. Scary fun for sure.

The water levels will only rise significantly if the ice in Antarctica melts.
